Woohoo! Just got back from my 2 week checkup and things are going well!!! Down to 323 from my lifetime high of 350 pounds. I'm on the liguid diet for another week and then I get to start the mush diet for 3 weeks!! Gotta say, the trip hasn't been as bad as I was worried prior to surgury, but I know that it hasn't been easy for many of us June Babies! Pain Releivers: I was able to get off of them after the 3rd night home and have not felt the need for them since. Doctor had given me a Codeine/Tylonal syrup which worked very well when I needed it! Food: This had gotten boring quickly with broths, yogurt and cream of wheat being the staples. I supplement this with 1% milk, Iso-pure and Carnation Instant Breakfast. Treats have been to goto the Chinese resaurant and buy Wonton soup, strain it, I get the broth and my partner gets the solids! Exercise: Only walking up to this point, but the doctor gave me the approval today to goto the gym and use the treadmills and stationary bikes! This should bring some variety to my routine! Incisions: Healing well, with the spray on bandage/adhesives. She told me that these would slowly peel and wear away, but the site look good. She explained the bruising on my left side (small bruise) as due to that was the hole the stapler was inserted through and because its a larger instrument, more bruising would occur on that side! So the downhill weight ride continues from my high of 350 pounds, I am now down to 323. Now all of this hasn't been post Surgical, as I lost probably 5 pounds when I got off my addiction to Diet Coke just prior to surgury! Here is hoping things continue well and hoping things are going well for all of you also!! Robyn

Well its been a couple of days now (its Monday and Surgury was Thursday). Surgury process went exceedingly well, memories so far: Morphine makes you itch!! (thank goodness thats only for one day). I was blessed in that I didn't have to be converted to Open surgury and I have only 6 little wounds where the surgeon went in and performed the surgury! I had to get out of bed immediately upon waking up, since they pump saline soluiton into you and I really had to go! But getting up and moving is a good thing! You are at the mercy of your Nurses and Nurses Aides those first few days, because you are hooked up to so many monitors and saline and morphine drip, you have to be unplugged and bundled in order to goto the bathroom and wander the hallways. I only had one incident wandering the hallways: on the second day, I made the trip by myself, and failed to adequately cover my backside, I'm sure the janitors got a snap shop, but my nurses aide hurredly caught up with my and got me covered . I was already 1/2 way down the hall! I was also blessed that I didn't require a catheter at any time during the procedure or afterwards. Other pleasant memories, the first time you pass gas! You wonder for a couple of days: When is this going to happen! After the 3rd day, hallelua!! The smallest miracles are a blessing!! Thanks to all that sent me well wishes prior to the surgury!! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!! You must be thoroughly excited! I know I was. I practically leapt onto the table! I was nervous too sure. But more excited about the upcoming life I was about to begin. I had been lurking on the OH site for quite some time while researching WLS. And when that day finally came I was ecstatic that I was going to be a “loser” like so many of our OH Family. That’s what this site is…A Family…The people here are so amazing. As you are probably well aware by now. Just know this. No matter where you are, what you’re doing or what you’re going thru. We are here and ready to help and support you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during your surgery. Good luck and we’ll be waiting on the lighter side. Much love…
