May 1,2005 I am a 58 yr old with 2 grown kids and 5 gr'kids.
I have been overweight all my life.I have tried so many diets it's hard to remember them all.
My first diet was with a Dr. when I was 15...43 years ago and I would love to weigh the 150lbs.I weighed then !! The most sucessful I guess was Weight Watchers in the early 70's. I went from 184 to 133...but it didn't last long. A few years later i weighed 217 when I was approved for WLS in 1976, but at that time if you were married your husband had to give permission and mine(God love him) backed out after I had my surgery date.
Since then I have been up and down many, many times...the best since then was Slim Fast, going from 223 to 180...but again...I'm up.
I will admit the first time (in 76) I was into it for looks only..I had no medical issues.
This time I hope to get approved for the surgery because of high blood pressure, asthma, and artheritis(sp), standing and walking come first, the looks thing is way down the list. So everyone reading this pray, cross your fingers or whatever you do to help dreams come true
I will update if changes to my status occur.
May 27.. Well, my life is in the hands of the insurance co..now, I'm really nervous !! So I wait !!
June 22...I'm approved !! Only problem is, I may lose my insurance before I can get surgery scheduled...good timing ya think !
Got my date...July 19 at 10 am...can't wait !! Williamson Medical Center, Franklin Tn...here I come !!
Tomorrow is MY day !! Today I return to work from 2 weeks vacation, for 1 day, and on liquids...but I don't want to lose my holiday pay fron the 4th, since I'm gonna lose pay checks while I'm off for the surgery. I can't really afford it, but this surgery is gonna happen, and I will make it financially...and physically.I have No reservations about this decision and I am so ready !!
I had my surgey tuesday the 19th ..nothing out of the ordinary happened. The staff at Williamsburg were terrific and I really
appreciate it.
Now I"m trying to figure out what my puoch conciders a "sip". I wouldn't change it for anything. I have waited 30 yrs for this opportunity.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: D Oxley
I Saw him at the seminar, and he looks very young, but I heard he was turning 40....seems very dedicated to WLS...I have complete confidence in him. He has an aftercare schedule for me to follow, and he explained the risks fully.
Dr.O's nurse/manager is a wonderwoman !! Pam gets everthing done and still has time to be at support meetings, nutrition classes and has time to SHOP !!
I will be forever grateful to Dr.O and Pam...oh yeah..Doc can cook too !!
I had my surgery 7/19/05 and I feel better than I have in years.
