7/24/03 I am now two weeks post-op. Surgery went a little different than I had anticipated. I had complications. I had an open surgery and during surgery, my spleen was injured, luckily, Dr, Harrington was able to repair it and I made it through ok. However I was in ICU for 4 days and in the hospital for 6 days total. Was in a lot of pain and was very scared. At times, I wondered if it I should have gone through with it. I went home still with a lot of pain and didn't think it would ever end. However, I am feeling much better as the days go by and want to tell everyone that is facing this that it does get better and to hang in there. As the days go by the pain and healing get better. I am very much still in the healing process but have improved a great deal. I went to Dr. Harrington 12 days post-op and had my staples removed from my incision and I have lost 21 lbs in just those 12 days so I guess I have something to be thankful for. That and the fact that God has blessed me with the fact that I am alive and well. But for all of you that think that this is just an easy way out of being obese, trust me, it is hard work and the beginning of a new life, a lifetime change. It's no joke. Be serious about what you are going to and take everything the doctors say seriously. Lots of luck to all!! I've just begun!

    Surgeon: David Harrington, M.D.
Having met with Dr. Harrington, I am very comfortable putting my life in his hands. He has made me feel that I am making the right choice and I am ready to make this lifetime change. He was great in answering any questions and concerns that I had and Helen, his nurse practitioner was also great in explaining and answering questions as well. I am very anxious and excited for the big day which is July 11th.
