7/11 - my lucky day has arrived. Only 4 more hours until I check into the hospital. At this point I find myself very anxious and calm at the same time. It's a beautiful day here in Seattle and the sun is shining upon me as well as all of you and God. I am confident I have made the right choice and am well prepared for the journey I will now take.
8/23/01 - 6 weeks out and showing a 39# loss. I feel great. Back to work fulltime and cannot believe how I DO NOT EAT EVEN WHEN I AM NOT HUNGRY! Never in a million years would I have believed that would happen. I always ate, full or hungry. I have gone down 3 sizes. I could not have done this without all of you out there supporting me like you have. Now I am here to support those with doubts!
7/12/04 - 3 years out and have never felt better in my life. It's hard for me to believe I have not had candy, ice cream or sweets in three years. This was my downfall, would eat sweets before I would eat a meal. The desire is gone forever. I was able to eat a half gallon ice cream by myself and now the Dairy Queens in our area are going out of business! I did try sugar free ice cream once and it nausated me to the point I have never tried it again. My main exercise is walking which I complete 3 miles several times a week. For those out there wondering is they should participate in the surgery - it is well worth it but you do have to follow the guidelines. I did everything I was told to do, ate when I was told to, began the light exercise of walking while still in the hospital and continued from my first day home. I could feel the strenght daily I was gaining. I chose to change my lifestyle and have never regretted it.
07/23/02 - Two weeks out from my abdonimalplasty and doing great. I cannot believe the life style I can live now. This has been a great decision.
04/28/02 - Just a little over 9 months out now and feeling so good. I am down 104 lbs. and for the first time in my life I will be participating in a 5K walk on June 2nd. In fact, I am the Team Captain. This all seems like a miracle to me. I cannot believe how much weight is gone now - FOR GOOD! I am very thankful I had this chance. I do not consider this a major life style change like I read - it is a change to a life I love.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Ravi Moonka, M.D.
I was referred by Dr. Moonka by my physician. My first impression was how caring he was, did not make me feel ashamed. His office staff and assistant did not seem to notice my weight but saw me as a real person.
Dr. Moonka went through the complete process with me than gave it to me in writing. I feel like I can contact his office with my questions (which I have). This is becoming less often since I found the great support here and on Spotlight health.
Dr. Moonka has give me hope and I will not disappoint him.
