Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: James R. DeBord M.D.
I had my 1st meeting with Dr.DEBORD on 10/19, he was very nice, answered all my questions, asked me a few and "said you are a perfect candidate for the surgery and we will go ahead and set the date (11/29) and presurgerical testing, I have no doubt that your insurance will approve you, just a formality". His staff was great, very caring and helpful. 11/9/99 Since I work at one of the local hospitals I know many people in the surgical department, met with some today to get the lowdown on surgical technique of Dr DeBord, thank goodness it all came back good. They just told me which anthesiologist and nurses to ask for during my surgery. What a load off of my mind. 12/13/99 Surgery just 2 weeks ago, got out of hospital in record time (for here) 4 days after surgery. Dr. DeBord very competent physician, but only say him in hospital one time, his residents followed me up. At my 8 day appointment 1/2 of the staples taken out and will have the gastric tube and rest of the staples taken out at 3 weeks. (gastric tube usually left in for 6 weeks)
Insurer Info:
Caterpillar, privately insured company
Our insurance is privately funded through my husband's employer. They pay 100%. The only thing bad I can say about our ins. is that it is a ppo and since the surgery is offered locally, I have no choice of where I can have the surgery.
