I am a 33 year old diabetic female. My present weight is 332lbs. at a 5'6" frame. I have been bigger and smaller than this weight, which I am sure most of you can relate to or surgery wouldn't be in future plans...:). I can say that I have never been under 250, even in Jr. High. So I have struggled and dieted and regained, well ya know...anyways, I wish all the best to everyone out here! Michele
8/25/00 OK CJ, I am updating...it is only a small one though. Since surgery I have had two setbacks...one, my wound opened on the top about 2 inches, but it is coming along well now, (only about 1/4 inch left to heal), and second, the first 2 weeks I lost 25 pounds, but the following 2, I only lost 3!! I was devestated, but my doctor says it is normal and the weight will come off, no doubt, so a total of 28 pounds gone. Maybe a little more, last weigh in was 8/21/00 and the doctor told my hubby to put the scale away, once a week only!! So that is my monthly update.....:) I am doing ok!~!~
July 22nd, 2001....Well it has been a year and what a year!!!! I have lost 146 pounds and feeling fantastic! I can do so much more and the compliments are making life forfilling. I am so glad I had the surgery. I have 30 to go to goal, and am looking at surgery for a hernia and excess skin in 3 weeks..so that should take care of some of that 30...YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I can't say enough about htis surgery.....to all those over 100 pounds over weight, please look inot this. I remember how hard it was...take care....

Surgeon: George L. Blackburn M.D.
Although it was at Dr. Blackburns office, I met with Dr. Edward Mun. He was very attentive, answered all my questions, and was in no rush to move on to the next patient.
In the hospital, at pre-op, Dr. Mun was as equally respectful along with his awesome team! I remember the anithegiologist (sp) saying..."We are going to have to spray your mouth to insert the breathing tube." I looked at the nurse and said, "Do I have to be awake for that?" I saw her shake her head NO and that was the last thing I remember.
They informed my husband right after I was put into recovery. He also said they had much concern for family and patient needs. My stay and care was exceptional at Beth Isreal and Dr. David King, I cannot say enough good about him...Thank you and anyone looking into Mun and his team...go for it, they are great!
