Was initially approved for surgery at Scripps Green Hospital, La Jolla, Dr. Brunson. However, my cousin Danette had the RNY in January 2002 at Chapman Memorial with Milton Owens, MD, and she has lost 120 lbs. and her diabetes is totally under control! My entire family has raved about the excellent care that Danette had under Dr. Owens' care and at Chapman.

So in January 2003, Danette's mother, my first cousin Dottie, and I both had gastric bypass with Dr. Owens. I am happy to say that I had no complications whatsoever and proceeded to lose over 150 lbs.

Now in 2007, I am maintaining about a 143 lb. weight loss and have decided to further clean up my diet and exercise more. I have rejoined Weight Watchers and spending time daily to plan and prepare my meals. My diet has been lacto vegetarian for 27 years, so if any one out there needs help with a vegetarian diet post roux-en-y, feel free to contact me. I am walking 5-7 days a week in the mornings for now when it is cooler, and I start out with about 20 mins. of light yoga to stretch.
