I am 38 years old, married and have a 2 1/2 year old son.In 1985 I was hit by a car, so the heavier and the older I get I really have a hard time.I would love to be able to get down on the floor and play a game with my son or even chase him around outside. I don't take him outside on my own for fear he will run and I can't run after him. I need to have the surgery done so I can be better physically and so he can have a mother to be around to do things with not just to sit with.
8-2-01- Well I got home today and not feeling that great. I still have the what did I do to myself. Woke up Monday night with three drains in my stomach, hooked up to 2 I.V.'s, I really thought what have I done.I hope it is worth the pain, next week when I go see Dr. Peters. I was never told I would be coming home with a drain in. Will update more after my 1 week visit.
7-29-01- Well the night before surgery and I never thought it would get here. I'm very excited to get it over but am very upset to be leaving my son for 4 or 5 days. (he'll be with my husband but that's not the same as being with mom not dad). Will update when I come home. This site has been a god sent for me, I'm on every night checking things out.
7-15-01- 15 days to surgery and I'm starting to get nervous, and I'm constantly thinking about the surgery and saying to myself soon it will be over and I can walk without so much pain.7-18 is my appointment with the nutritionist I will let you know how that goes.
7-9-01-I am relly excited I got a surgery date today, it will be on Monday 7-30-01. I can't wait to get to the other side.
7-5-01- notified by Dr. Peters office that I was approved and that Aetna actually approved the surgery late on Tuesday 7-3-01. I am so happy, but also a nervous wreck.
6-28-01-had second visit with Dr. Peters. took a test and passed with flying colors. I have to make an appointment with the nutritionist before I can have surgery.

Dr. Peters is wonderful. He tells it like it is.Robbie in Dr. Peters office is so nice and made me feel so comfortable at my first appointment I was scared to death I had no idea what to expect. Dr. Peters addressed the risk of surgery and everything that could happen. The risk is worth it though because there's a risk being like this.
