I am now almost three months post op. I have lost about 45 lbs. and have gone from a tight size 26 (eek!!!) jeans to a loose size 20 (yea!!!) No problems post op, except some weariness concerning my protein supplement and a low potassium count. I am off all but one pill (which was decrease from 40mg to 10mg) for my blood pressure and except for the vitamins, no pills. I am riding an exercise bike 5 days a week and hoping to begin walking soon. I have resigned my job and am starting my nursing degree in August. I would love to hear from anyone who wants to talk. Its great to feel healthy again.

One week short of 4 months. I have dropped 62 lbs. and am wearing a size 16. What a wonderful blessing. I am doing well in the area of eating, though I have stopped eating bread (unless it is toasted, and milk products). I am still experimenting with protein supps, because the amount of food doesn't meet the 60-70 gms my dr. told me to try and do.
Classes are great, I can trek across campus and up stairs with the best of them. I even bought my self a "tankini" bathing suit today....Never thought that would happen. I am in the process of finding a place to work out with weights. I need some toning desperately. Life is wonderful.
feel free to write me.
Thanks, Teresa

Well, it has been several months since I updated this site. I am now just one week short of being 9 months post op. I have lost about 95 lbs. and wear a size 12 or 14, depending on what it is. I am having no medical problems to mention but I am still struggling with protein supplements. I was using the cherry liquid, but have gotten very tired of it. I need to try some of the other ones again, and I am trying to find a protein bar I can tolerate. I have begun to exercise 3 times a week and feel great about that. I have no regrets and would love to hear from anyone considering or a post op.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: J. Chris Eagon
Insurer Info:
Illinois STate University, Health Alliance
The staff at Health Alliance were nothing but helpful. Once my letters reached their office they approved and notified me in 2 days. I was originally approved at only 50%, but it was due to an incorrect pre-existing clause my employer has. A letter from my previous insurer took care of the problem. And actually the problem was not w/ HA, but w/ my employer. I will have to pay a $100 co-pay, then have 100% coverage.
I am very blessed.
