LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, I WAS FAT AS A CHILD. I REMEMBER MY FATHER BRINGING HOME FISH SANDWICHES AFTER HE WOULD GET OFF OF WORK. HE WOULD WAKE US UP TO EAT WITH HIM.(MISS THOSE DAYS)HE WORKED 2ND SHIFT AND WOULD BE WIDE AWAKE.I HAD A GREAT CHILDHOOD. REALLY I HAVE BEEN BLESSED GROWING UP. MY MOTHER IS ALIVE AND WELL. I HAVE THREE SISTERS WHO ARE ALSO HEAVY. TWO OF THEM HAD THIS SURGERY WHEN IT WAS JUST STARTED. BOTH GOT HEAVY AGAIN. DIDN'T STOP EATING. THEY WERE CUT FROM UPPER CHEST TO JUST ABOVE THE PUBIC BONE. THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD SURGERY.
I LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT AND CANNOT. I TRIED ALL THE DIETS AND THEN MADE SOME UP.EVERYONE LOVES ME THE WAY I AM. I HAD SURGERY IN 1995 ON MY BACK. IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO GET ANY BETTER. THIS IS WHY I AM HAVING THIS SURGERY ON APRIL 12
TRYING TO GET AROUND BETTER. I DON'T WANT TO BE SIXTY AND IN A WHEEL CHAIR.

04/08/02 HAD MY PRE OP WITH THE HOSPITAL. GOING TO FAMILY DR TOMORROW. REALLY SCARY. CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT OVER. HOPE AND PRAY THINGS GO WELL. I WILL KEEP UP MY POSTINGS SO EVERYONE CAN SEE.
THANKS TO MY ANGEL, MY HUSBAND RUSS. I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART. WRITE SOON
I WORK IN A DOCTORS OFFICE AND EVERYONE THERE SAYS I WILL CHANGE. I SAID I WANT TO BE THE NASTY PERSON THAT I AM(HA HA).I HEAR I WON'T BE THE SAME JOANNE. HOPE THIS DOESN'T CHANGE ME FOR THE BAD. I DO LIKE LIFE AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED.
MY HUSBAND LOVES ME THE WAY I AM AND DOESN'T CARE IF I HAVE THE SURGERY. I AM DOING THIS BECAUSE I WANT TO.
MY SURGERY DATE IS ON APRIL 12.2002. HOPE TO SHOW MY BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS SO THIS MAY HELP SOMEONE ELSE.I WILL TRY TO UPDATE THIS AS OFTEN AS I CAN.

o4/12/02 HAD SURGERY. WAS ONLY ON OPERATING TABLE FOR ONE HOUR. SEEMED TO GO WELL. DIDN'T HAVE A ROOM READY FOR ME. I STAYED IN POST OP UNTIL 9:30 THAT NIGHT.IT WAS A LONG NIGHT.

041302 THINGS GOING WELL.HAD A NASAL TUBE IN MY NOSE TO MY STOMACH.THAT REALLY MADE ME FEEL BAD.ALSO HAD A CATH TO HELP ME GO TO THE BATHROOM. STARTED ME ON SOME ICE CHIPS.

04/14/02 WAS ABLE TO GET UP AND MOVE A LITTLE.DID HAVE SOME DRUGS GOING IN TO HELP ME WITH PAIN.DID TRY TO GET MORE. I WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE BATH ROOM AFTER THEY TOOK OUT THE CATH. I DID FEEL REAL BAD.THINKING WAS IT REALLY WORTH IT TO HAVE THIS DONE?
DID TRY TO START ME ON SOME CLEAR BROTH AND JELLO. I WAS THE 2ND PERSON TO GET THE GASTRIC PROCEDURE DONE IN BETHESDA NORTH HOSPITAL.THEY WERE GIVING ME SWEETENED JELLO,REGULAR JUICES.I TOLD THE NURSES I DIDN'T THINK I WAS ALLOWED TO GET THIS.I GUESS I TOLD THEM THIS 6 TIMES BEFORE THEY BEGAN TO THINK.THEY FINALLY GOT ON THE BALL AND STARTED TO LISTEN AND BRING SUGAR FREE JELLO.I AM NOT A JELLO EATER,BUT THE TIME DID GO BY FAST. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS TO SLEEP. DREW A LOT OF BLOOD TO KEEP TESTING TO SEE IF I HAD ANY LEAKS.NG TUBE WAS TAKEN OUT AND THIS MADE ME FEEL BETTER. IF ONLY THEY COULD TAKE OUT THE IV. HAND WAS SO SORE.

04/15/02 STARTED WALKING MORE AND MOVING AROUND. STARTED TO FEEL A LITTLE BETTER.FINALLY DR CAME IN AT 6:30 AND TOLD THEM TO REMOVE THE IV AND I COULD GO HOME. DIDN'T KNOW IF I WANTED TO GO HOME OR NOT?"""""" WAS WORRIED ABOUT PAIN.IT WAS NICE TO GET HOME THEN, I FOUND OUT I COULDN'T SLEEP IN THE BED. THAT WAS A LONG NIGHT. STARTED TO HURT AFTER A WHILE. NOTHING TASTED ANY GOOD.NOTHING STILL TASTE GOOD. I TRY TO GET MY WATER IN AND MY JELLO.

04/16/02 STILL ANOTHER NIGHT OF *&^$$&*(!!!@!!!REALLY FEEL BAD. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO MAKE IT ANY BETTER. A REALLY LONG DAY AND NIGHT.

04/17/02 STILL DON'T THINK IT WAS WORTH IT. DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ANYONE. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE. AM TRYING A LITTLE CREAM OF WHEAT AND SOME CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST. DON'T KNOW HOW THIS WILL DO ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
