I am a 45yr.old woman who has struggeled with my weight all of my life. There was one period in my life for about three years where I had lost 110lbs. Since then it has been constant up and downs. The final straw came when I needed major back surgery this summer. After the surgery the Dr. told me the only other thing I could do to help prevent this from happening again was to loose weight. I quit smoking almost two years ago and the severe degenerative disc disease is hereditary,so the only other thing would be to loose weight.
I really want to have this surgery because I firmly believe that this is the only way that I will be able to take the weight off and keep it off.
My best friend and I are having the surgery together.
We have appointments scheduled for all of the Dr.s and we are waiting on the Nutritionist. We are hoping to have the surgery in March.
Wish us luck Well I have seen the nutritionist,cardiologist,pulmonologist,endrocinologist and the psychologist. The last Dr. I need to see is Dr. Greenbaum. Which I hope will happen this month. I am really hoping to have my surgery in April.Well the appointment with Dr. Greenbaum is scheduled. I found out that I have sleep apnea and I have to be set up with a sleep unit.

MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED YIPEE!! JULY 21,2003.INDEPENDENCE DAY HERE I COME. I AM SO EXCITED AND ALSO VERY NERVOUS. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH EFFORT IN GETTING READY FOR THE SURGERY THAT I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT WILL BE HERE BEFORE I KNOW IT. NOW I JUST NEED TO WORK ON LOOSING SOME WEIGHT. BOY IS THAT TOUGH. SEEMS TOUGHER NOW THAT I HAVE THE DATE.

TA DA! ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS UNTIL MY SURGRY. I SAW THE DR. ANDI MET THE WEIGHT LOSS REQUIREMENT. I AM SO EXCITED AND ALSO NERVOUS.
I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO SENT MESSAGES OFSUPPORT :>). YOU MADE MY DAY. I WILL KEEP FOLKS POSTED AS I GO ALONG.

08-29-03 WELL I AM FIVE WEEKS POST-OP AND I HAVE LOST 25LB. I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT THE WEIGHT LOSS,BUTIT HAS BEEN A REAL UP HILL BATTLE. LOTS OF NAUSEA,GAS,PAIN,AND I CAN NOT TOLERATE ANY OF THE PROTEIN DRINKS THE MAKE ME NAUSEOUS. I HAVE TO ADMITT THAT THINGS ARE SLOWLY IMPROVING.
