I had a VBG in June 2000. I had a revision to a proximal RNY in Oct 2000. I am going back March 10 2003 because my BMI is still over 40 and am hoping to get a revision to a distal RNY.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Patrick Yau, M.D.
I liked Dr. Yau. He was very forthright with the info that he gave about the surgery. I felt pushed into having the VBG. I knew of its failure rates and felt that my eating habits would interfere with the VBG's sucess and I was right. He was not happy to do my revision and only did a proximal even though I wanted a distal. And now 4 years into my wls journey, I am having to go back again for another revision to a distal and thats if he will even do a 3rd surgery for me. Hes a good doctor, but I don't think that he likes to admit that I was right all along and he wasn't. Has a good bedside manner etc. His follow up care sucks big time. You see a dietician, but no constant support or followup. This time I intend to use the followup diet from another surgeon. 6 weeks clear fluids and then 6 weeks full fluids. And I finally have a family doctor that I can visit every week after surgery to monitor my weight loss. My only problem with him is that he didn't agree with my choices in the types of surgery that I wanted.
