September 21, 2004- Ok so I have never put much about myself on my profile so here it goes. I started this WLS process back at the end of July 2004. I have always been a person that didn't think sugery was for me but in july I saw a friend of mine who did it and she is lookin' so great and feelin' so great that I figured out that I needed to do this. I have been on so many diets since I was a young girl. I never have really looked at myself as obese before so once I started looking at my weight on paper and the problems I have because of it it became very emotional for me. I have lost weight in the past on weight watchers and other diets only to gain back more. The last time I was on WW I lost 55. Now 8 months after the birth of my daughter I have put on about 70+ since I lost that weight on WW.
My insurance has been ok to deal with. The frustrating thing is that everytime I call to get a better explination of somthing about what our insurance covers they give me a diffrent answer or they just read me the brochure our employer hands out on WLS.
At the begining of Aug I saw my PCP for a letter of support and a list of my comorbidities. In mid Aug I meet with my surgon, had my psyc eval, and nutritional eval done. The insurance also required me to do a Cardio Stress tess that I did Sept 13. Now that all of that is done and my paperwork is submitted I'm just sitting and waiting........and waiting......With the other people that have had WLS through our insurance they have got an approval pretty fast so I'm giving it about a week or so and then I'll call.

9/24/2004 - I found out last night right before I left work that I am approved. wooohooo. my date is 11/17/04.

11/23/2004 - OH MY I've waited too long to write. I ended up having sugery on 10/18/2004. IT WENT GREAT!!!! I haven't had any problems at all. I've lost about 30lbs since I had to start the fluids only diet 3 days before sugery. I started at 282 and I'm now at 252. WOOOHOOO. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm eating too much or not enough. I'm so happy I did this. Now I just need to get my butt moving at the gym!!!!

11/24/2004 - OK so I weighed myself today and I was 250.8
That is so great!!! Woohoo for me. :)

12/20/2004 ----OK OK I'm back now with an update. I'm doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! I've joined the gym and commited to 2 days a week and have been doing it. I'm going to add to that in January going at lunch time for 20 min 3x a week. So I'm down to 237. WOOHOO again for me. I'm so excited. I feel great except that I have been having a TON of back problems. It hurts just to sit. so I'm going to try some physical Tharapy. HOpe it turns out to help. I'm finding that I'm getting sick of eating the same old crap so I need to be more creative. :) Well I'm going to but I'll update later!

2005

January 24th, 2005- I'm still hangin' in there with 2 days a week at the gym. This week I'm going to try to do 3 days. This month I feel like I'm losing really slow but I suppose that happens. I still feel great and I know I'm losing inches still because I can feel my cloths hanging off me. :)

Hello All!!! Today is February 22, 2005 and it has been alittle while since I wrote. I'm feeling great!! I've been keeping up with my 2x a week at the gym! and I'm lossing again and over my hump. :) I'm down to 220 WOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! Now if my darn husband would stop making those freakin' cookies and wouldn't be tempted to take a bit her and a bit there. Why is it that these skinny people just don't understand. They say "just don't eat it".

4/4/2005 - OH MY GOSH! I don't know if I wrote this in other posts but I auditioned for "The Sound of Music" Back in December and got the Part of Sister Sophia and I tell you this play is kickin' my butt. I could sleep for a week. Thankfully Jaclyn slept alittle longer on sunday morning then usual. One bad thing about being in this play is that I have no time at all. So my excersie has been way down. But now that the weather is going to be changing and be more spring and summer like I am going to get myself a bike and start riding to work then home for lunch. It is about 2 miles to my house so I think that will be very good for me. I feel like I'm still losing to slow but I'm sure with the riding bike that will help.
The other thing I'm doing right now to help me out is a have a diet journal that I'm writing everything down in from vitamins, water and food. I'm hoping this will help me relize what I am putting in my mouth. Well I will update again at my 6month mark I'm sure.

OK so it has been 11 months now and I'm 180. That is 102 lbs. gone forever. :) WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO I think that means I'm in the century club. :). I've started counting Weight watcher points because I know that works for me and that way I'm not over eating. I also count my protein grams and make sure I've been both ranges. This is all so exciting to have lost this much.

    Surgeon Info:
    Surgeon: Maciel J. Kieturakis
My first impression on Dr. Kieturakis was GREAT!! He took the time to really talk to me. He first made me explane what I knew about what I was getting into. Then he explaned step by step with a picture book what was going to happen in sugery. In my first visit with him he looked at my gall blatter scar and said because it was an open sugery there would be scar tissue and that in some can result in open RNY but he assured me he had not opened anyone yet. After the sugery was over and I was in the recovery room the nurses said I told the Dr. Thank you and that I loved him. Funny I know but I do think he is the BEST. His receoptionist is SOOOOO nice. The person that deals with getting the approval was very helpful as well. He is newer to doing gastric bypass but I would not have gone to anyone else. I have only GREAT things to say about him. Thanks Dr. K!!!!

Once all my paperwork that they required was in dealing with them was great and their approval only took a week. Getting all the requrments done took a bit longer.
