Surgeon: Stephen V. Hamn M.D. F.A.C.S
My 1st impression of Dr. Hamn was that he is very straight forward and to the point. He does not sugar coat things and basically stated the facts of the procedure and the risks. His office seems very knowledgeable but I guess with the media attention of the surgeries his office is very busy so paperwork was not sent in very quickly. It took them over 3 weeks just to submit the 1st letter to the insurance co. But, I was scheduled for surgery much quicker than I thought. When I went for the consult on 5/26 they were booking surgeries for August so I guessed I would have October or later--what a shock to be scheduled for 7/30!!

I'm really not sure what got my approval. I called the claims department to verify that they received my information from Dr. Hamn because I had seen other postings that United was bad about having things sent to wrong depts. etc. They advised they had not received anything so I called the pre-certification dept and started asking questions about what I needed to do and they actually took all the info I knew and then they called the Dr. Hamn's office, they gave them the info and I was called within a week that I was approved.
