1/22/03 I had first consultation with Dr. G. he was great! I am now awaiting ins approval. I am still a little unsure of how this process works. Would like more information from others who have had the surgery.
I have been obese since my first pregnancy, and have never been able to loose down to pre pregnancy weight. Now after 22 years of trying to loose wt, with and without the aid of medications and each time regaining extra pounds it is time to consider another alternative. 03/04/03TODAY I NOW HAVE A DATE1! I am scheduled for april 9th. I'm nervous but excited at the same time. I must quit smoking in the next three days, but at least now i have some motivation, and dont have to worry about gaining weight, what a relief. i have made all my pre op appointments. Now the process begins. i just got back from las vegas with my kids and we had a wonderful time, but every time i wanted to take pictures and knelt down for a better shot, i could not get back up without assistance from my son. i felt really bad. i hope i didn't embarrass him. i am looking forward to my knees not hurting all the time, having more energy, and running...something i havent been able to do in years, and just generally feeling better. its now 4/1/03, 8 days till surgery. all the preop visits went well, just have my psyche eval tomorrow and preop lab at hospital. i'm beginning to get really excited. any just a little nervous. will update again a little later. Well it is now just three days and a wakeup till surgery. I am ready. have been cleaning house and preparing everything for when i get home from the hospital. i know I am making the right decision. ALL tests are completed, checks have been written and I am ready to go. I only regret that I did not have this surgery sooner. it is now april 15th, I had the surgery on April 9th. I am still recovering. This was one of the most difficult surgeries I have ever had. I have had two c-sections, one open cholecystectomy and abdominal hysterectomy. The new eating habits are not as hard as I had imagined. I have been walking everyday with encouragement from my daughters. Yesterday I actually walked around the block once. Recovery is slow, somewhat more painful than I expected but not terrible. I have been on clear liquids for one week now and have another week to go before I can start soft food. I am finding that it is hard not to think of flavors and textures when your on clear liquids.

VERY NICE TO DEAL WITH. I WILL CONTINUE TO USE THEM IN THE FUTURE. I AM A NURSE BUT USE MY HUSBAND INSURANCE BECAUSE I GET BETTER COVERAGE AT A BETTER PRICE.
