Hoping to have RNY surgery soon. Have always been over weight. Tired of the yo-yo diets and want to find a permanent solution to battle obesity.

Just had a Dr. apt with an Endocrinologist for evaluation for surgery. The Dr. said I did qualify for the surgery. I had to go for all the pre-op testing the same day. I have an appointment with a surgeon in March.....cant wait.

I have a surgery date set for July 11 2001. I am very excited but also nervous. This would be a good time to tell you a little bit about me and my life. I am a 38 year old female, married and have three children. I have one son Bruce who is 12, and two daughters, Marcy 8 and Andrea 3. I have been married for 14 years and work in a hospital as an RN. I first learned about gastric bypass about three years ago. I never even for a minute thought it would be something I would ever be interested in. It wasnt until Sept of 200l after I bought my computer that I started researching WLS. When I first started reading different peoples profiles I found them very interesting and helpful. Although I found it strange how so many people were writing about how excited they were to have WLS, I soon learned why.

After reading MANY different profiles and Info on WLS I soon realized that this was exactly what I needed to do to change my life for the better. I know WLS is only a TOOL to help me become thin and healthy, and I am ready to use it. I know it is not going to be fun or easy but I am ready.

Well I made it through the surgery without any problems at all. It feels so GREAT to be on the other side! I cant believe it went so fast. For all of you waiting it does go by soooo fast!
I did not experiece as much pain as I thought there would be. My staples are more painful then anything. I get them out tomorrow. It is hard to get in 6 small meals a day. I am never hungry so I have to eat just because I have to. I dont know what I have lost so far.....I dont want to weigh myself until my one month apt.(but I dont know If I can wait that long). I only lost 8 lbs in the hopital......thought it would be more. I have been doing really good and can keep everything down so far. I havent tried alot of different kinds of foods yet. I need to get more protein in .....its so hard.

Sorry it has been so long since I'v updated......been sooo busy these days! Im doing really good......I'v lost a total of 57 lbs so far. It hasnt been real easy for me. I have to watch what I eat and count calories. I walk five days a week. I dont have problems with food and am able to eat just about anything I want. I still have the head hunger thing going on.....I dont feel hungry but still want to eat. I dont have the feeling of fullness so I stop with amount. I dont eat much at a sitting but still eat too much junk food between meals. Im working on cutting that out! I have some dumping with sweets but not enough to stop me from eating them. I am still very glad I had the surgery and would do it again!
