09-04-03 359/312 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!!!! am so greatful to be able to celebrate another birthday. I had surgery on 7-11-03 and I have lost 44 lbs. to date. I have had some struggles with an insicion that doesn't want to heal but other than that I feel GOOD!!
07-08-03 HOORRAY...HOORRAY!!!! Finally I have all my finances taken care of and I WILL be having surgery 07-11-03. Ok, I must admit I am now scared to death. I hope this is normal. I just am not sure if Iam in the best physical shape that I could be in. I mean I haven't had a lot of time to prepare for this since it is happening so soon. Not that I am complaining one iota. I never thought that I would want to be considered a LOSER but hotdog I am proud to be a LOSER!!! I know that my higher power will be watching over me and I will be in the best hands possible. I will update soon. God bless you all!!
07-05-03 Well I have to vent somewhere so I guess this is as good a place as any other. I am sooooo frustrated. Debbie tells me that I have to have $610.00, the hospital wants at least $500.00 at the time of surgery (just 6 days), I have to pay $300.00 to the pulmonologist and my husband says he doesn't have it (yeah, right)and doesn't know anyone he can borrow it from. He just thinks I am so stupid for wanting this done. Well damn it, I am going to have it done if he likes it or not!!! It will happen at some point I just wish it was on the 11th as scheduled. I guess I could pan handle like so many people do, but I would probably die from the heat. Oh well, I will put it in God's hands. Thanks for listning to me gripe. Please pray that I will be able to have this done. God bless you all.
06-27-03 Hey everyone. I finally have a date and have changed surgeons. (That is a womans proagative, right? lol..) I am using Dr. Warnock in Wichita Falls Tx. I don't mind the drive from Grand Prairie that much as long as I am comfortable with the surgeon. Anyway I am trying like the dickens to round up enough money to go. I will have to rent a car as well as a hotel for about a week for myself and a few family members. (I can't go this alone.) I am really excited. I can't wait to be a real person. The things we take for granted, wow. I guess I will write again later. God bless.
05-01-03 Well, I am considered severely morbid obese. (That sounds so disgusting!!) Anyway like most everyone else I have been obese all my life. I am a 37 year old female with 4 wonderful children. My oldest has went off to college at FSU and the others are still at home. They range in age from 8 to 21. I want to have this surgery so that I can attend thier graduations and be able to go places with them and just be a complete woman. I feel so trapped. And I have so many comorbidties. I am now having to sit up in a recliner to sleep. This is NOT comfortable. God bless.
Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Kenneth M.R. Warnock
My fist impression of Dr. Cribbins was just like alot of other people. He was so young and GOOD LOOKING. He didn't have a lot to say or maybe I just didn't ask the right questions. I told him that I wanted the gastric bypass and he said that I should have the open adjustable lap band. Well I reckon that since he is the doctor he should know best. Anyway I really wish I knew which was better in the long run. As for the office staff, they were alright. When you first go in at least. but then when you get denied by your insurance company they send you a letter telling you that you were denied and basicly your on your own. You would think they would've stood behind thier prosective patients but NO not them. They offer no after care and so that was not discussed. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 5 and his staff a 2. I am currently trying to get a consult with another doctor. Well I have seen DR. WARNOCK and he is the best. He takes his time in talking to you and makes you feel like you are special. Even though you know your not. And Debbie is just a sweetheart. The other receptionist is really nice to. I would recommend my own family members to use him so hemust b good. He is very spiritual and sincere. He really emphasizes aftercare. I would rate him a 10+ on a scale of 1-10. These are just my personal impressions of my own personal experiences and I am making no statements about what other people may experience.
Insurer Info:
Cigna, POS Open Access
Dealing with Cigna was not too bad, they just want what they want and nothing less. My problem was not a RECENT medically supervised diet.(They didn't consider a diabetic diet to be a diet.) Anyway I signed up with Weight Watchers and went for my 12 weeks and only fluctuated with weight loss. As soon as the 12 weeks was up I faxed over my information along with another letter from my PCP on Friday and by the following Tuesday I was APPROVED. You will just have to be persistant and dont depend on a doctors office to do it for you. You know the saying (IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE RIGHT DO IY YOURSELF) this is soooooo true. If you have any questions just email me.
