I got the approval from my insurance company--great right--no. The hospital is now giving me and everyone else who wants this surgury a problem. This is Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown NJ. They are denying medically indicated care to patients based on their ability to pay. This is wrong. They shut down the obesity surgery for about 2 weeks, because they say that they aren't getting enough money back from the insurance carriers. Now they say that they will take 2 patients a week only, but there is a long-long waiting list which mean some will have to wait maybe 6 mos. to a yr.
This is ridiculous.
Now everyone is sitting in limbo. I am so frustrated.FINALLY GOT SURGERY DATE--7/16/2001

Am now 1 week post-op. Feeling great. I am running errands and getting used to the eating plan. I have not vomited and am proud of it. LOL.
I am down 9 pounds and see the doctor on 7/27 to have the staples removed. Good luck everyone.:)

Very nice guy. Great sense of humor. Made me feel very comfortable. He knew my MD well and spoke with him on the phone.
His staff is very nice. Mary Meola is the RN in charge of everything. She is great.
Must follow aftercare religiously. This is stressed.
