I have been overweight all my life. I am now 33 and very concerned about my health as I get older. My mother has type 2 diabetes and I am afraid that I will become diabetic myself. I have tried so many weightloss programs, pills etc...and have never been successful keeping it off. I need some help if there is any!

7-1-03 I have not updated my profile in a long time. I am a single mother of one daughter who is 10. I am currently a student trying to practice, practice, practice, to get my speed up to be a court reporter. I am very close to finishing and I have panic attacks thinking about being in a courtroom or in a lawyers office sticking out like a sore thumb. I know by getting the surgery, my confidence level will soar!!! I will be getting the surgery July 21st to begin a new outlook on life. I can't even sleep at night.
My insurance denied my twice because I did not have a year's worth of supervised diet by a doctor and because I did not have major health problems yet, it looked like it was not going to happen for me. The funny thing is, while I was on hold with my insurance(bcbs ppo) the recording always talked about preventative measures. Well, this surgery will be a preventative measure. My mother has type 2 diabetes, hypertension, neuropathy in her feet, etc.. I have watched her suffer sooo much. She was diagnosed with diabetes in her late 30's and I know without this surgery I will be in the same boat!! she had her surgery 2 months ago and is off her medication, she has lost so much weight and her whole personality has changed.
Here's my MIRACLE! I will be a selfpay. Just when you think there is no hope, GOD sends a miracle. I have someone who is giving me the money to have the surgery!!!! I will pay them back. If you are reading this and you are having a hard time getting approval or you know that you will have to be a selfpay and it seems as though nothing is going your way, just give it to God and let him make the way. He will if you TRUST! Don't give up!!!

FUTURE UPDATE
7-19-03 Just returned home from having my last full meal (crab legs)! I thought I would wake up this morning feeling a little paniced or depressed because this would be my last day of eating a "normal meal", but I didn't. I wasn't even hungry. I believe my mind has already begun to make some changes and my body will catch up on Monday. I am so excited. I have waited and prayed for a long time for this day to come and it is here. Thank you Lord for giving me such peace. And, to all that has sent their prayers and thoughts my way, THANK YOU! I am so thankful for this website. It has been my best friend for a while now. It has helped me pass the time while I was waiting and kept me busy when I couldn't sleep which is very often these days. If I don't post again before my surgery on Monday, you will hear from me soon! When I am a LOSER!

I am so ashamed for not updating my profile before now. I have had a wonderful year. I have lost 111 lbs. My life has totally changed for the better. I am a total different person and my confidence level has sky rocketed. I have had no problems whatsoever! Now, the only thing that is bothersome is the skin. But, I can live with the excess skin verses the weight. I do take try to take my vitamins daily and never miss my B12 shot. I will update my picture as soon as I can put one on my profile.
