Kathie,
Congratulations on your weight loss and your smooth recovery. It is only going to get better and better as each month goes by. Just think about what you will feel like next year, strolling on the boardwalk. :-) Keep up the good work and I hope to see you in Oct.

Hi Kathie,
I noticed (while reading the bulletin board) that your surgery is Sept. 3rd. So is mine!!! I'm scheduled for 10:40 a.m. I'm beginning to get nervous but still excited that I maybe will have more years with my family and friends. I'll be thinking of you and I'll remember your name because I have a sister named Kathy.
Good luck to you.
Your WLS same day buddy,
Ellen

Hi Kathie, I hope you are having a wonderful time in Alaska and won't forget to come back. I am so excited that your big day is almost here. I know you will do well, cause you are going to listen to Dr. Bell, right!!! He is the man and I had no reservations at all knowing he would take excellent care of me and as you well know he did. My most important advice to give to you is GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF THAT BED AND WALK, WALK, WALK!!! you'll be glad you did. You won't want to and it will be hard but you will be so glad you did. If you need something from the nurses, don't wait but ring that buzzer!!! You have so much waiting for you most importantly a healthy new life. Believe me it took a while, but at 6 weeks out I feel a lot better. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. I'm not an authority but you won't be far behind and I'll be glad to share anything that I've learned along the way.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, hugs,
Mary Lou C

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**

Hi Kathie, I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting me at Yale after my surgery. It meant so much to me for you to do that. I am sticking to the all-liquid diet (no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast w/ skim milk) and trying hard to get all my water in. My lower back pain is sometimes worse than the surgery pain. The heating pad on my back is wonderful. I have been stretching out the pain medicine to usually 8 hours, so I am doing good. I am starting to get bored, at times, but next week should get busier. I go back to Dr. Bell for the first post op appt on 8/8 so I will find out my new diet foods. One lady online graduated to creamed soups after first two weeks.(Texas) Anything sounds good to me. I gained 10 pounds from the surgery, and have dropped that 10 plus another 8 since I have gotten home.
Oh, yeah, thanks too for checking out the location of the meds for me. I ended up starting out with liquid Children's Motrin, because they (The Walgreen's 2 lights up) told my husband they didn't carry the Roxicodone solution 5 mg/5ml in that strength. They called around at many different drug stores while my husband waited, but said nobody carried it(maybe in that strength). We called Dr.Bell to ask if he might know where to find it, He couldn't believe nobody had it in the area. I'm sure they must with the hospital so close, anyway, we ended up buying the children's motrin until we got home and then got on the phone for our area NL county, They carry it at The Medicine Shops. In some ways, the over-the-counter liquid worked as good as the narcotic. I got through the first night fine with it. The next day Ed went and picked up the RX. The generic ran almost $18 and the name brand would have been $179.00!!! Go figure.
Well, take care.

Hi Kathie, (again) I just read your profile so I know where you are at better now. Have you talked to Linda about the time frame you mentioned, that was your open window? Sometimes when they can they might try to accomodate that. It's worth a shot. Hang in there, and keep in touch with Dr. Bell's office. How are you doing with the eating now? Is the Paxil working to help that too? Nerves are a major headache, and I know how the waiting can be. It was for me too. Stay positive and drink ice water, that is what helped me if I tend to be munching too much. Keep in touch, I care.
