Amy, you know that I'll be thinking of you tommorrow. Plastics will change your life. It's tough at first. Your gonna go through pain for awhile, but it does get better and once your swelling goes down, the results are so worth it! This is a new chapter in your journey and to be honest, my plastics journey was the one that truly gave me the self-confidence boost I needed that WLS could not provide. It affects the way you feel and think about your body. Once you heal, you will see yourself in a whole new light. It doesn't hurt that you will be able to wear clothes you never thought you'd ever wear! If you need someone to talk to and need reassurance that things will get better or just someone to complain to ,please send me a message. Hugs, Jane

Amy,
First of all...a belated happy birthday. Second and the main reason that I came in here to post you a message is to tell you what an inspiration you are. I have been on this sight for a couple of months, but just in the last couple of weeks come on regulary, started posting on my profile, and all around getting involved and trying to get to know people. I came across your profile, don't remember exactly how now, and saw your pictures and read your journey. I saw the links to the MTV program and went to the website and saw the clips. Last night I was at my parents home, my sister here for the weekend from college, and the program came on. I was surprised, thinking that you had done the program ages ago and that it had aired then as well. I immediately yelled for my sister and told her to come and watch with me. I had her grab the computer and showed her your profile and your after picture. It was somewhat of a defining moment for me and my family in this journey that I am about to take. Being able to show them someone else that has gone through the procedure and the journey, made so many things right about what I am trying to do. It showed the potential results that I am going to have, I am more excited then ever, and it really brought my family into the journey with me. It has been hard to really share with them some of the stuff, other then basic surgeon information and hopeful dates. In a way, you are your story brought my mother and sister into the journey with me. It's such a relief. We are very close, but for some reason sharing this with them was very hard. That barrier has been crossed now. I wanted to thank you for your courage, sharing your journey, and congratulation you on a huge success. You are beautiful!

Its not often that I respond to many post online, however I just recorded and viewed your special. It too alot of guts to go thru that. To show personal defeats, accomplishments, private affairs and the emotional aspect of life and the suffering you go through. I truly admire your husband and the support he has given you. Please continue to be all that and a bag of "fat free" chips for her. I realize that sometimes they can be biased, and they showed more positive about you than they did for Corey. Everytime they showed him he was eating. Thats a lack of maturity on his part and I hope he comes to grips with the REALITY of this TOOL and how beneficial it will be for him and lifesaving also. I am encouraged, and wish you much success in the future on your weightloss journey. Take Care and continue to pray to God for help and assistance, and he will be there for you. If you are tired, settle down, dont over do it. Trust me, those things will come sooner than you think. Again I dont respond or comment often on anyone, however considered yourself PRIVLEDGED ahahaha.. Take care.

Amy, I have posted on several messages talking about the show last night, but since not sure you would see them I wanted to personally, say THANK YOU. Thank you for the courage and strength it took for you and your husband to be apart of that program. You are a blessing to anyone of us dealing with MO and its health issues. Hold your head up high, my friend, you have every reason to feel good about yourself and what you have shared. I was inspired and wanted to offer my support, ((((((Hugs)))))) and prayers to you and your family. The NY post review was the writing of an uneducated and ignorant person. (unfortunately the world is full of them, but with people like you speaking out all of us will benefit). You have found a way for better health and life, may that path be paved for you already. Hugs and prayers, Theresa Privette

I saw you last night of the MTV show, Wow what a brave lady you are. I'm so impressed by your openess. You honestly brought tears to my eyes. especially the going out with Kenneth to dinner part. I totally can relate...been there done that. I see you like the butterfly symbol, I have this lttle saying about it, that I pass onto other WLS patients in support to their surgery journey. I have enclosed it below. I also have reached a 112lb weight loss now, and just last weekend had a butterfly tattoo put on my lower back, its the symbol of re-birth. God bless you for sharing your journey, heart ache, and so much more..I look so forward to keeping up with your journey. Please give Kenneth a big hug for me, He seems like a wonderful dedicated husband. BUTTERFLIES!!
Butterflies are a great symbol of WLS patients. Like the caterpillar, we move slowly. We are not particularly attractive - and most of us are a bit round. Soon, we enter the cocoon stage, where we hide from everyone and everything, and EAT and SLEEP. Then, after WLS we emerge from the cocoon spread our wings and when they are dry, we fly off, seeking beautiful flowers. I love the analogy, and can't think of a thing that is better. So, first the butterflies in your stomach, and in your thoughts - pretty soon, you will have them in your heart, and you will be so proud of yourself, and feeling darn good, too!" Oh… Don't forget to wiggle your new wings. Love, Your sister in WLS

I just saw you on MTV True Life and wanted to make sure that you got to read my post, so I've copied/pasted it here. I am just SO happy for you!
Dear Amy,
I was so proud of you for representing us all that I actually was crying! Many people are ignorant of the problems that many of us face daily. You forced the general public to see the mean spiritedness of other people who simply cannot and do not want to understand.
I think you truly were the biggest inspiration on the show, because you showed the true depth of pain most of us feel everyday as we deal with out obesity, and its related issues! You faced your obesity with honesty and courage and made what is for some of us the only choice possible. Congratulations on your surgery! We all look forward to meeting the new you everyday of your journey! Good Luck and God Bless!
Yvonne :)
PS:Your husband seems to be a great support for you, so hold him tight! With him you are so very lucky! Please tell him we are also big fans of his as well! :)

Sorry I haven't posted this information in the past day or two, but all is starting to look well for Amy. She just started jello this morning. She is up and walking some. Hopefully she will be released tomorrow.

Kenneth called me last night at around 10 pm Eastern time... and she was resting comfortably... after a time without pain meds.
Her Umbilical hernia was larger then they thought. From what I understand, she has an 18 inch incision.
Now... there is a website where you can send your well wishes...
http://hi.mcg.edu/getWell/getwell.htm You just need her name, and then you put in your name. When putting in your name, I would put that you're from Obesityhelp. The Staff will make sure that your message is sent to her.
I do have her other information, but will not give it out in public... You can email me, and I will ask her if it's ok to give out that information to you. You can e-mail me at magswls@comcast.net.
Anyhow... that's going to be all for Yesterday. I will report in later on today.

Hi! Congrats on having your surgery! I bet you feel relieved now. It's over and now you are on the other side and can join the ranks of the losers. Welcome, my friend!!! Happy RE-Birthday to you! From this day forward you life will change forever. Just try to take it easy and remember to sip, walk, deep breathe and cough. These first few days are rough, but I assure you they get better with each passing day. I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you today and that you are in my thoughts and prayers for an uncomplicated, swift recovery. You are an official loser!! Sorry to hear that you've had a hard time with the pain. I pray that you will have relief and be comforted! Wishing you much success in your weight-loss journey. Soft hugs to you today. They didn't send her to SSCU after all... but to a private room. You do not need her room info, just her first and last name to send well wishes to her.
Anyhow.. her pain level is out of whack. It seems that the needle moved after her surgery when they got her into her room, so they are putting her on a PCA. I have told her mother to advocate for something a little stronger then the morphine at first, because she wants something that will break through the pain.
I'd like to thank Jenn from her site for alerting me to this by posting it on another board.

Amy...
God speed...may you be safe in the wings of our love tomorrow...
As I just watched Fantasia win on American Idol and sing what I do think is a song made for her...I had the thought that she sang what each and every one of us here have come to know....
the understanding that we are doing something that we have waited for (if not all) most of our lives...
freedom from the burden of Morbid Obesity.
So as she sang that song...you, AMY, came to my mind...

Amy, CONGRATS on your approval. I know you are so excited. When I received my verbal approval 2 weeks ago. I decided the next day I would call the insurance company just one more time to make sure I heard them correctly. And yes they told me once again I was approved.
I know this has been a very emotional roller coaster ride for you. I wanted to wish you the best of luck in your new journey. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a successful and uncomplicatd surgery. :-)

Hey Amy! I am glad your sleep study went well. I had mine the day after you did yours.
I hope your hubby is feeling better. My husband had foot surgery a few years ago and it was really hard for him to get around.
Could you do me a favor? Could you put on your profile page a list of what you took to your surgeon's appointment? I would like to be fully prepared when I go to mine, too! Thanks a bunch!
I am praying that you get an approval from your insurance company soon!
Lots of hugs- Amber

Linda, I didn't realize you have had so much going on with you over the last couple of months. Remember I live here in Augusta and if I can be of any support and cheer, let me know. It's normal to have the jitters, but God has done alot of work getting you this far...there is nothing behind you girl...You and your husband will have all the support you need. Don't forget to tell the doctor you want home health care for him and then for yourself. You both would qualify. Lovingly, Rose

Hi Amy. Sending prayers and hugs your way. Tell husband to stay off his feet. I had to see wound care doctor since July of last year. Less pressure on his foot will help it heal faster and make sure he eats lots of protein. This also helps in the healing process. Best wishes.

I'm so sorry, Amy, that your husband has to have surgery of his own; I'm equally sorry that you've lost your set of (car) wheels. Meantime, we'll be praying for you, and for others in similar circumstances.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**
