Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was always oveweight as a young child, I had my clothes made for me and when I was a pre-teen I had to get clothes from the large ladies store. I dealt with the problems of being overweight all my life until after I had children, later on in life. I then began to experience the real problems of being overweight; diabetes and join pains took over my life. I never like to depend on people to do things for me but I had to resort to having my childeren do everything for me. I was in a wheel chair or on a cane and was almost ready to give in that this was the way I was going to be the rest of my life.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
Increased problems with walking and leg swelling. Complications from being diabetic.
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I enjoy buying clothes in any store rather than just being able to go to one or two specific stores. I enjoy the compliments I get from everyone who knew me before and I enjoy life much better. I feel changes every single day and discover more parts of my body that I never knew were there or had forgotten about. I have always enjoyed working out but now I enjoy it much more becasue I can see progress and changes. I am back to my independence and I feelmuch more confident in myself.
