Obesity & Me
Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I started gaining weight when I started puberty. It wasn't so bad then. I stayed around the same size throughout highschool. Once I started college I lost some weight but then gained it back shortly after getting married. After I had my 2 children I really ballooned. I've tried and tried to lose the weight having limited success. Whenever I've lost I've always gained it back. It has hurt my relationship with my children and my husband. I can't do certain things with my kids that really hurt me because I enjoy spending time with them. I've gone through bouts of depression that has turned me into an emotional eater and I had been in a vicious cycle of getting upset about my weight and then eating to dull the pain thus making me upset about my weight.
What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?
Not being able to keep up with my family. Being scared that I won't be able to ride on an airplane because I can't fit in the seats. Not wanting to go to amusement parks because I can't ride on any rides.
If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?
I won't admit it in public but I actually do enjoy exercising. If anyone reads this know that I typed this under duress. LOL I actually feel bad if I miss a day of exercise.
