Wellstaff at Baileys Medical ,were very nice and profesional.When I went in to Baileys I talked to Dr. Joe Bob Kirk and he made me relax and deal with the problem, after all the pre test and all was more psyhed than ever.Then I met DR.Varnell and I knew that I was going to be in good hands. The Doctors at Surigal Associates were nice ,funny and professional .my sugery went text book ( just like dr.Varnell said ) and two hrs. later back in my room and I started trying walk 3 and 1/2 hrs after I got in my room at St.Francis( great nurses there) thank you Dr.Varnell .

Dr.Varnell did a great job on me,2hrs in surgery and he told me it was text book.then on yesterday gave me my dicharged papers, now I'm at home with my family and friends.

My first impression of my surgeon was "WOW, He's young" but after speaking with him I came to realize hes VERY knowledgeable and knows exactly what hes doing. Dr. Varnell works out of Surgical Associates in Tulsa however, I went through Bailey Medical Center in Owasso, OK and thats where my surgery was done by Dr. Varnell. They work together. I LOVE BAILEY. its the best hospital ive EVER been to. They actually care about their patients. Its so clean and beautiful there. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else in the world. Dr. Varnell did a wonderful job at the surgery & ive had no complications. His aftercare is wonderful too. Any ?s I had, I just called his office up and they answered for me right away. He let me know up front on all the risks, explained in detail the procedure he was going to perform and didn't leave anything out. I'd give him a 9 out of 10. I love dr. kirk too. Hes at bailey & hes the one that set me up with Dr. Varnell. Very very caring. All in all, I had a great experience and wouldn't change it for the world.

My first impression of Dr Varnell was that he was young. After speaking with him, I realized he was a listener and was really good at answering my questions and making me feel at ease. I feel that his staff is very good at what they do, however, I received a collections letter for a $25 balance that I thought I'd already taken care of- I wasn't asked for it at the appt which then gets confusing because there are so many insurance and bills that come that you don't know which end is up. I had called immediately and took care of the $25 over the phone and 2 weeks later, I received the 2nd collections letter. It was explained that the letter was sent out just a couple of days after the letter was generated and that it takes several days for the information to be updated. So, not really the staff, but maybe the system. I guess I would have appreciated a phone call before they sent me to "collections" I would have gladly paid it if I'd known. He definately gavee me some verbal info re: post surgery care, but they give out a paper long before surgery is scheduled to make sure you know what to expect. Overall, I really like him. I'm glad he did my surgery. Within 5 days, I was without pain and I know I can call anytime and at least speak with his nurse. I also have a follow up visit scheduled with him for 2 weeks after surgery. I think both his surgical competence and bedside manner were very good. He is pretty to the point, but not in a rude way at all.

First impression was like I was wasting his time. The center I was going thru had lost the majority of my paperwork so he had nothing look over. So he just gave me the basic info and told me when I got all the stuff in we could schedule the surgery.
The next time I saw him was three days before surgery. He sat down with me and we talked almost an hour on what to expect, outcomes etc.
His office staff: the recepionist was very nice and helpful, one insurance lady was extremally helpful and spent alot of phone time with me, the nurse was nice but didn't follow thru very well and messed up on one of my meds. Almost had to postpone surgery due to it. The person who was to send in the request for surgery with insurance didn't for two weeks and then did it wrong. Slowed the process down a month.
I would follow up on everything in his office.
He was good. Most of the aftercare came from the baraitric clinc office. And they need more post op instructions to be given esp. with diet
I thought both surgial competence and bedisde manner were ok.
