Very nice Doctor. Office staff is very courteous, especially Janet Duce. They recommend that patients attend support groups after and before the surgery. I am going to try and get in touch with one here in the Kansas City metro area.

I met with Dr. Scott on April 27th. My first impression was that he was a very busy man. I had about 15 questions I had written down to ask but after attending support groups, seeing the dietician and speaking with a friend who just had surgery I had only 1 question left for him. He was very straight forward. I did not feel pressured to hurry up. His assistant Janet has been absolutely wonderful over the past 7 weeks since surgery has been scheduled. I am impressed with Dr. Scott's aftercare support group. I feel very comfortable in his abilities as a surgeon!

My surgeon was actually Dr. Norbert Richardson, who is an associate of Dr. Scott's in Wentzville. Dr. Richardson was very personable and knowledgeable and helped me through hard times immediately post-op as I did have some complications.

The office staff and program coordinator, Janet Duce, are 100% focused on patient care. They actually sent my insurance papers over the holidays, which really impressed me.

The hospital I stayed at, St. John's Mercy in Washington,MO, had the most wonderful nursing, surgical and chaplaincy(!) staff I could've asked for.

These are all good things, but to those considering this surgery, DON'T think it will be easy or a breeze. I'm 28 and had no risk factors for complications of the sort I had. This is a hard step and one that is nearly irreversible. Don't go into it lightly and research everything you can. Be knowledgable and dedicated and it can work.

Dr. Scott is very thorough. Answered all questions, listed all risks. Office staff is knowledgable and attentive. There was nothing I disliked about Dr. Scott. Dr. Scott wants you to know that this is a program and not just a surgery. There is aftercare and support group and both are important. Rate him competent, respectful, trusting and very consciencious. He is a quiet man and that is what I believe makes his bedside manner quick and to the point. Yes, I recommend him highly.

Received referral to Dr. Scott on 2/8. Still waiting on insurance approval - unsure when Dr. Scott's office sent info to insurance company. Suspect they are running way behind in paperwork. Too Busy!
3/6/00 Received approval today. 1st available day to schedule surgery is 7 weeks away. Very busy doctor and office. Director Janet is very pleasant.
4/6 - Met Dr. Scott for the first time. Found him to be mid-late 30 ish, preppy looking and very attentive. Looked me in the eye and gave me risks. Asked for questions and patiently answered all 17! His results are superior and I at once felt at ease in his care.

I thought that Dr Scott
was like many typical BUSY DR's. He was polite and very informative and took the time to answer all of my questions. He made sure to inform myself and my husband that "I"
would be becoming a whole new Person. This would require alot of patience and understanding on both of our parts. My husband did'nt like the fact that Scott did'nt look him in the eyes.Like all Dr's
I have learned that sometimes they are so busy they forget that we are the reason they are in the"BUSINESS". If you want more from them you MUST ask for more. Now that I have had the surgery and am 9 weeks Post Op I have learned what I will accept from a Dr & what I will not. That is My responsibility to myself. Dr Scott's surgical knowledge is 2nd to none in his field of expertise(LAP RNY)The man teaches other surgeons how to do this procedure. He is one of only 3 or 4 surgeons in the U.S. who do this procedure and out of the four or five hundred procedures he has done all have gone well with NO FATALITIES. Bedside manner could use some improvement, but then again so could mine.

11/23/99 update surgeon to Dr. Scott Dr. Tsiotos' staff was totally screwed up and it was just too unorganized for me. Have read that Dr. Scott is wonderful and look forward to meeting him very soon. February 2000 surgery date discussed with Janet, his person in charge. She was very nice and informative. Got their packet within a week. Insurance process has begun with their office. Approved within 2 weeks and a surgery date scheduled. I'm so excited 2-25-00. Yeah!

DR. SCOTT WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION TO MY SATISFACTION. oN MY FIRST VISIT TO HIM HE SEEMED VARY BUSY AND WANTED TO MOVE YOU RIGHT ALONG, BUT STILL ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I HAD. pART OF THE OFFICE STAFF IS FINE, THE OTHER PART I COULD DO WITHOUT. THEY SEEM TO BE OVERWHELMED AT TIMES AND FUSSING AMONGST THEMSELVES. hE IS VERY OPEN AND A STRAIGTH SHOOTER ABOUT THE SURGERY. HE WILL NOT SUGAR COAT ANYTHING. DR SCOTT EMPHASIZES AFTER CARE AND GROUP MEETING AFTER SURGERY. THIS HELPS US TO DEAL WITH OUR EATING DISORDERS MORE EFFECTIVELY AND LETS YOU REALIZE THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE PROBLEMS ADJUSTING TO THE CHANGES AFTER SURGERY. DR SCOTT DOES ADDRESS ALL OF THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY AND WILL DISCUSS ANY ASPECTS THAT YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT.HE COULD LOOSEN UP A BIT, BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM FOR THE SURGERY AND CARE THIS PROCEDURE REQUIRES. HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS ABOVE REPROACH AND HIS BEDSIDE MANNER COULD BE BETTER. HIS PARTNER DR DE LA TORRE HAS A VERY GOOD BEDSIDE MANNER AND IS VERY APPROACHABLE.

I met Dr. Scott on my first evaluation appt.He was very nice and sat knee to knee, looked me right in the eye and explained the lap surgery, asked about my medical history, and felt like he could help me. Since then I have been taken care of by his co-ordinator, Janet Duce. There is an aftercare group program. Dr. Scott did inform me of risks, and that mine are higher than most, but the alternative of living like I am made them seem small to me. The only office staff I now is Janet Duce, and she is wonderful.

Have just met with Dr. Scott. My first impression was very good. He made good eye contact and answered all my questions completely and thoughfully. I found him to be warm and attentive and I am feeling very confident that I made the right decision in choosing him. The office staff has been wonderful. Janet is incredibly helpful. He "runs his own ship" and expects you to follow the program. In fact, he says this is a program and not surgery.
After care is stressed and there is a weekly support group at his office for patients only.He was very open about the risks and the possible complications of the surgery. I'll update these comments after surgery and the hospital stay.

I am now post op and still feel the same about Dr. Scott. I only saw him once after surgery, but his resident and other assistants saw me. I have seen him twice now since surgery and he has been just as interested and helpful as before. I really have no negatives about Dr. Scott.
