Dr. Pennington and his staff have been great! I was scheduled with another surgeon who "took an undetermined leave of absence" just days before my surgery date. I had a choice of a few doctors his office would refer me too and after doing some research I settled on Dr. Pennington. They were very understanding in realizing I had already "jumped through the hoops" with my previous surgeon and fit me in very quick. My initial appointment was on Tuesday and they scheduled my surgery the following Monday afternoon. His office staff is great and very attentive whenever you need something from them; also fairly quick to return my phone calls. Dr. Pennington is very knowledgeable and was happy to answer any question I had. He has a great bedside manner and easily calmed my nerves before surgery. They stress the importance of aftercare and followup appointments. There is a psychologist, dietician, fitness instructor, as well a lab right in the office which makes things very accessible and easy. I am very happy I chose Dr. Pennington as my surgeon and would recommend him by far over other surgeons I have met with. The biggest downside is the fact that he only operates at Trinity. My hospital experience was far less than desirable, but I'm not gonna get into that.

Dr Pennington is one of the best doctors i have ever had,, if you are looking for a caring weight lose surgeon look no further,,,from the time i went in to see him for my initial visit his office staff was very helpful and lead me in the direction i needed to go with enthusiasm and hope that i did have a future. He held my hand and prayed with me for strength and to help ease my anxiety right before surgery,,,i have felt his warm and caring nature throughout this whole adventure it never wavered,,He answered all my questions non judgementaly and his co-workers and asst. came to see me in the hospital many times of the day to see how i was doing,as i had some complications with anesthisia afterwards,he's a wonderful Human being,,,,his surgical competence and Bedside manner are both great in my book,,

Dr Pennington is the best, most caring surgeon that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I work in a hospital and come in contact with many surgeons on a daily basis. I am so glad that Dr Pennington was the one who did my surgery. He is a truly caring person who explained everything to me and made me feel like it would truly go well. He prayed with me before surgery and made me feel so at ease. I can only say that if you are looking for a great, caring Doctor you need not look any farther.

I've never had a more caring doctor ever----before WLS and since than Dr. Pennington. His staff and everyone associated with him have been wonderful to me. I feel that he is very competent in what he is doing, and from a spiritual standpoint he is truly concerned for his patients. At post-op visits, he continues to encourage and I feel that I could call on him at any time if I needed.

If you are looking for a weight loss surgeon that really cares about his patients, you have found him. He is kind, a man of faith and he makes you feel at ease with him from the start. He understands his patients and he takes the time to talk to you and answer all your questions. I met with at least five other surgeons in Al, TN, and MS before I found him. I was never fearful, after he prayed with me I knew I would be OK. I had my surgery in Feb. of 2009 and since them I am off over 15 perscriptions. I did so well that my husband decided to have surgery too and is about 4 months post op. We both did great and have had no complications. He is with you for life after surgery, he stresses after care and even though I am 18 months post op I still see him every 3 to 4 months. He is truly a answered prayer and I thank God for him and the work he does. He also has a great staff and we had very good nurses and hospital care.

At the Seminar I was very impressed with the courtesy of the staff. I met Dr. P on my first office visit. I was then very impressed with his \"approachability\". I am sure that - that is not even a word. But...he was very easy to talk with. He helped me decide on the exact WLS that would best fit me and my needs. I am a \"self-pay\" patient and that has a good point...I get to choose what I allow to be done to my body.rnrnI will update as the surgery date comes and goes. WLS is June 18, 2009.rnrnOne NOTE: If you are going to Dr. P .. you will needs a test that is referred to as an \"EGD\". This test sucks. He will attempt to stick a scope down your nose and/or your throat to get a visual on your stomach. He is checking for bacterial infections and the like. This was the most horrific thing I have been through to date. I could not accomodate this test, they chose to do a \"breath test\" that reveals the exact same information. This test took 15 minutes and it was a breeze. I trust there is a reason behind the EGD..but again...tht test stinks.

He is confident and very knowledgeable. He shows a strong belief in GOD and is very sympathetic to his patients needs. He has a good heart and is compasionate and reassuring. His staff is very professional and helpful, they can answer a lot of your questions. Excellent surgeon with great bedside manner and he places strong emphasis on after care, it is a large part of you reaching your goals.rn

Very supportive, a Christian and knowledgeable about surgery and aftercare. I am two years out and my impression has not changed. He is an excellent and caring surgeon. He prays with you before surgery and I know his surgical skills are in God's hands. rnrnWould recommend Dr. Pennington for anyone having gastric by-pass surgery. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Dr. Pennington.
