I believe Dr. Geiss is a very good surgeon. I never had any complications from surgery and healed quickly. The office staff is wonderful and helpful with getting insurance approval, as well as setting up appointments. The follow-up care unfortunately, IN MY EXPERIENCE was not a good one. I struggled to lose weight and after two years of fills and unfills, I made an apointment to talk about my options. I will just say that the answers i received were FAR FROM positive. I have never been back since.
Had lab band surgery 09/01/11. Dr. Geiss and his staff were extremely helpful from my first initial consultation throughout my post-op. I highly recommend Dr. Alan Geiss
I went for my consult on 1-12-10 I loved the Staff at the office friendly and up beat looking foward to my other visits and the surgery. And Dr. Alan was nice and caring and very educated.
I was very impressed with dr geiss and his office staff. From my initial consult all the way up to my post op care everything was well organized and everyone was super friendly. Through the entire process I always felt well educated and always knew what to expect right down to exactly what would happen on surgery day. My surgery was comleted without complications and I had minimal pain. I was actually feeling well enough to return to work in just 4 days and I was off all pain meds after just 2 days. I would definitely recommend dr geiss to anyone who was considering lap band surgery
My first impression of Dr. Geiss was, finally a doctor who understands! He was very informative about the Lap Band procedure. If it was right for me. His office staff was very nice and helpful from the very beginning, and through the whole process so far. I would recommend Dr. Geiss to anyone who was considering Lap Band Surgery. There are tons of pre and post operative support groups that you can choose to attend. My overall experience so far with Dr. Geiss and his staff has been wonderful. I couldn't be happier with my choice in a Doctor.
My first impression of Dr. Geiss was \"finally someone who could help me.\" My impression of him hasn't changed because he did help me. It took a long time ( a year to be precise due to the 6 month diet, all the different medical things that needed to be done and school) and there were many lows ie. doctors that were more of a head ache than a help, but I finally was able to get the Lap-Band surgery done. His office is beautiful. He definately put some time and effort into decorating it. His staff is nice and they try to help you out as much as possible. One thing that people should know about him and that I still don't like is that before the surgery, I only saw him and spoke to him once. That was at the ok for surgery. I never saw him again until the day of the surgery. I am hoping to see him more now that I have had the surgery because I do like to be comfortable around all of my doctors. The thing that I did like though is when it comes to scheduling, he schedules, or at least his secretary does, everything for you to ensure that you get seen. If you need to change it you can but ultimately he wants to make sure that you are able to get seen. Overall, I would rate him and his staff and 8 out of 10. So far his surgical competence seems to be better than his bedside manner since I haven't really gotten the chance to make jokes with him like I do all my doctor (a sense of humor is very important to me).
A dapper looking gentleman who seemed very knowledgable and confident in his practice. He was very kind, compassionate, and reassured me that we were a family and that I could call on him anytime with any questions no matter how little or big. I felt confident that I found the right surgeon, since he took his time to explain the entire procedure and follow up care plan with me. Was highly impressed with his knowledge of the procedure and the amount of procedures he has performed. In pre-op he assured me that all was going to be well, and that in no time I'd be recovering and on my way to weight loss! He was a doll, and I couldn't of asked for anyone else to have performed this on me. His staff is amazing and very kind. Syosset Hospital is a gem and the local community is so lucky to have such a wonderful facility in their community!!!!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Geiss this past Wednesday. I was very happy with him and his entire staff. I actually found him through this website and was a little nervous about seeing a Doctor without a personal reference, but I couldn't be happier with my choice. Originally, I had planned on seeing a Doctor in the City but I decided that I would really rather be close to home. I met with his PA first, She was very easy to talk to and I felt comfortable with her. We spoke for about 15 minutes and then I met with Dr. Geiss. I was in and out of his office in 45 minutes. It was perfect. They didn't keep me waiting AT ALL. I took the cards and phone numbers of all the specialists that I need to see and had appointments with all of them by the end of the day. All were able to see me within the next week or two. If all goes well, I expect that I should have a surgery date in the next couple of weeks. rn
I've only met with him once but he was very nice. He was 100% confident in his team and staff and said that if I need anything through the process he encourages his patients to call whenever. His office staff was really nice and easy to get along with. The woman I met with that was the P.A. was super nice. She knew every little thing about the surgery and answered my questions before I even met with the doctor. Dr. Geiss has you leaving the office feeling very confident and that's the first time I've left one of these consultation appointments like that.

Dr Geiss is the best. I was so impressed when I went for my consultation. He is caring and has a professional office. You can call them 100 times and they don't get annoyed! He has a team that is able to help with almost anything. I felt a level of comfort from this practice. I didnt feel like I was on an assembly line like other offices. However, rnI was a little taken back by the nutritionist \"thing\". I used my own which was a mistake. Each doctor has you prepare for surgery the way they like. I didn't know this going into this and was a little taken back that I had to pay for this twice. This was my only complaint with them. I think they should provide you with the pre surgery diet. I don't think you should have to pay a nutritionist for that. I would love to follow up with them, but now I am a little hesitant. If you want more info about this, please contact me and I can explain. rnI would highly recommend this doctor!
