Dr. Amir Moazzez, Bariatric Surgeon

Amir Moazzez, MD, FACS, FASMBS is one of the top bariatric surgeons in Virginia and surrounding states. As the Medical Director of Inova Bariatric Surgery, people from across the country travel to be his patient for his surgical expertise and commitment to excellence in patient care. He is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and robotic weight loss surgery in Fairfax and Woodbridge, Virginia.

Dr. Moazzez began his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland and went on to earn a masters degree in human physiology at the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School where he also earned his medical degree. He completed his surgical residency at Georgetown University Medical Center and received specialized training in bariatric surgery procedures from some of the world's leading experts.

Dr. Moazzez is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). He is a member of the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV), Virginia Bariatric Society (VBS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr. Moazzez became interested in weight loss surgery during his studies and training at Georgetown University Hospital. While there, he found his passion for improving the lives of individuals struggling with long-term obesity. He has continued to dedicate his surgical expertise in helping his patients improve their health and quality of life.

He remains at the forefront of bariatrics with expertise in performing laparoscopic and DaVinci robotic weight loss surgery. Dr. Moazzez expertly performs laparoscopic and DaVinci robotic weight loss surgery procedures including the Roux-en-Y (RNY) Gastric Bypass, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), Adjustable Gastric Band procedures, and weight loss surgery revisions. Dr. Moazzez routinely performs Gallbladder and Hernia Surgeries.
