Brandt Lapschies Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Lapschie will be leaving HMG and working independantly with his with his wife at Kuakini. From the initial meeting, Dr. Lapschie displayed to my wife and I his heart and compassion. You see, people are moved by not what they hear but rather what you do for them and how you make them feel. We didnt hear his lips move but his heart. From the time of the start to now, 6 weeks post-op. We are on first name basis, along with our wives. Every single step of the way. Anytime of the day or late night, we call "Da Man" would answers his phone calls, or returns calls immediately. Dr. Lapschie is professional and concise. His thoroughness and in detail of the procedure and process had calmed my wife and I's life so we can rest assure, although the risks of a extreme surgery, we would be fine. I know that, I could have found another surgeon on the Island. Rather, God placed us together. I highly Recommend Dr. Brandt Lapschie, his wife, and son to anyone, who wants the best, deserves the best, not only on the Hawaiian Island but the country.

Dr. Lapschies made me very comfortable right away. He is easy to talk to. Over time, I feel like he has become a partner to me in all of this.I can ask him anything, he has never made me feel like I'm asking a stupid question. He is very thorough in explaining & makes it a point to make sure you understand exactly what he means. His office staff, especially his nurse Myrna, are all wonderful. The only complaint I have about Dr. Lapschies is that he is so BUSY! It's hard to get an appointment for consult, & the waiting time to see him once you get in is long (for all appts). He really emphasizes aftercare & expects compliance after surgery as far as re-checks, nutrition, & exercise. I really liked the fact that right up front he told me that this surgery is a tool, not a cure, that the success is up to me by complying. As far as risks, Dr. Lapschies did go over them & made me take a test to make sure I clearly understood ALL the risks before he even scheduled surgery. Overall, I think that he is excellent. I am happy that I chose him.

I called The Queens Refferal Line and they hooked me up with Dr. Lapschies. My first impression of him was that he was friendly. His office staff were nice also. Between my first consultation and my surgery date being schduled it took about 7 months. While doing my testing all I heared was how Dr. Lapschies loved success. He went over all the possible risks with me. He is good doctor but he's very very busy.

Dr. Lapschies is very competent, caring. has great sense of humor. I found him to be sensitive and respectful of the knowledge base I brought to the situation. He had suggestions of plastic surgery at time of bypass surgery which I had not even thought of that will very much enhance the result i achieve. He seems a powerful advocate for patients.

Ofice staff was also great, his nurse Myrna worked hard to schedule as many appointments together as possible as I am coming from a neighbor island. Dr. Lapschies seems to know just how much information to discuss per visit so you can process what he is saying and make some decisions before moving on to the next step. I like his approach and definitely feel a parntner in this process.
