  • About Me

    Dr. Daniel Swartz received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1994. He received a Masters in Science in 1998 and completed his surgical training at McGill in 2000. He completed a fellowship and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy from the University of Maryland in 2001. He was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego where he began a laparoscopic bariatric surgical program. In December of 2002 he joined Dr. Edward Felix at the Advanced Bariatric Center of Fresno where he has developed a high-volume surgical practice in laparoscopic bariatric (obesity) surgery as well as many other advanced laparoscopic procedures. He also maintains a large endoscopic program performing both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Dr. Swartz has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, surgical textbooks and lectures extensively. With Dr. Felix, he has developed and maintained a twelve month-long bariatric, advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic fellowship training program.

    Dr. Swartz has been inducted as a fellow in both the American College of Surgeons (FACS) as well as the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and is an active member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS), American College of Surgeons (ACS), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). In 2007, Dr. Swartz completed his board exams in bariatric medicine and began the Comprehensive Medical Weight Loss program using a multidisciplinary team approach as both an adjunct to our bariatric surgical practices as well as incorporating many of these principles into our bariatric surgical approach.
