  • About Me

In 1988, Dr. Olsen became one of the first in the nation to perform laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, a technique that would rapidly revolutionize the way abdominal surgery is performed in the U.S., and taught most of the early laparoscopic surgeons. Dr. Olsen has been performing bariatric surgery since 1999. Dr. Olsen currently serves as President of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

"I was one of the first to pioneer laparoscopic general surgery, having developed the American technique of laparoscopic cholecystectomy."
