  • About Me

A native of Cincinnati, Dr. Elliott Fegelman, has been in the active practice of General Surgery since 1994. His clinical interests focus on minimally invasive approaches to surgical disease, colon cancer, surgical treatment of obesity, and breast disease. He and his generation of surgeons have come of age during the rise of minimally invasive techniques, and he has been witness to significant changes in the field.

Dr. Fegelman attended Denison University, in Granville, OH where he received a BA in English. While at Denison he was a member of the Men’s Swimming team where he achieved national recognition as a five-time All American. From Denison he matriculated to Wright State University School of Medicine, in Dayton, OH where he was honored with election to AOA, the medical honor fraternity, as a junior.

It was back to Cincinnati for surgical training where Dr. Fegelman joined the residency program at the University of Cincinnati, under the leadership of Dr. Josef E. Fischer. There he was exposed to Dr. Fischer’s uncompromisingly high expectations for patient care, a commitment to personal improvement, and technical superiority. As a senior resident Dr. Fegelman was given the opportunity to spend a year at the University of Hong Kong, under the tutelage of Professor John Wong, the world leader in surgical treatment of esophageal cancer.

Since completion of surgical training Dr. Fegelman has remained close to the training of future surgeons. He is an active member of the University of Cincinnati Department of Surgery and is the Chairman of, and Program Director for, The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati Department of Surgery. Jewish offers a five-year, American Board of Surgery certified training program in general surgery, whose graduates have gone on to service the surgical needs of the community and nation.

Since 1997, he has been a consultant in Ethicon EndoSurgery in Blue Ash, OH. This relationship with industry has allowed Dr. Fegelman to offer his experience and expertise to many divisions of this medical device manufacturer. It has been one of his greatest joys to participate in, and watch the development of, surgical devices from conception to use in the operating suite.

Dr Fegelman is a no BS sort of fellow. He doesn't coddle you, but is very up front about why you are seeing him and what your options are. He took the time to answer every question I had without making me feel rushed More...
