Dr. Buckley is kind, funny, smart and skilled. Basically, he's the total package. As one who has had a number of orthopedic surgeries, I thought a kind surgeon was something of an oxymoron. It seems they are simply an exceptionally rare breed and Dr. Buckley must be their leader.

Being a fat woman, I have had some fairly serious issues blown off with an admonition to lose weight. I had come to expect that I would need to fight for respect. I'm a tough cookies so I have always managed to be heard but who wants to go through that? Dr. Buckley's manner was such that I almost instantly knew this experience would be different. I am very grateful that he was my surgeon. I still can't get over the fact that he really is that nice.

Dr. Buckley is a very nice man. I put my life in in hands and he took really good care of it. He is a man who listens to all questions you may have and isnt ever in a rush. He is nothing but kind and the care he gives is exceptional!!!

I met Dr. Buckley 3 years ago when I was in the hospital first thinking of having WLS. I found him friendly were understanding and down to earth. I told him I would think about it. Well, 3 years later, I met with him again and have seen him at a few pre meetings. He is very down to earth and explains everything so there is no question. His office staff is were helpful and caring as well, and he is very easy to talk to. I decided to have it, and just got the ball going, all test are done waiting for a date I would recommend him if you are interested, or want to see what it is all about

My first impression of Dr. Buckley was that he was much taller and quieter than I had expected...quiet and calm, not shy. He was incredibly thorough in explaining procedures, answering my questions unhurriedly. Over time, my impressions were only more deeply confirmed that he is a skilled surgeon as well as an empathetic and kind physician. He does not perform WLS in isolation but rather as part of a team approach that includes follow-up nutritional care and exercise. It's a very structured and supportive program and that was exactly what I was looking for. I think both his surgical competence and beside manner are wonderful.

I chose Dr. Buckley because he is the surgeon that performed my husband's RNY in Sept. 2006. However, after having met him for my own personal consultation, I must say that I couldn't have made a better choice. Dr. Buckley has such a kind and gentle demeanor and he took his time answering all of my questions even though he was behind schedule and there were patients waiting. I feel even more at ease about this surgery now and I feel that I am in the best possible hands. rnrnHe completely went over the procedure itself and went over all of the risks as well as the statistics for the program at this hospital. He emphasized the importance of the follow-up program as well as the fact that eating slowly and drinking water are extremely important and that I should begin practicing for that now. rnrnOverall, I couldn't be more pleased with the reputation of the Weight Loss program at Salem Hospital, their track record, and the warm fuzzies I got from meeting Dr. Buckley. I would highly recommend this program to anyone seeking WLS in this area.

After a year of struggling with the Bariatric program at Portsmouth Hospital, my doctor referred me to NSMC, I met with Dr. Buckley for almost an hour, during that time he made me feel like a person, not just a procedure. He has a very caring personality I did not feel as if he was looking down his nose at me like I did at Portsmouth. He was very honest about the surgery answering any questions I had. I have now completed everything needed through them and am waiting very eagerly for the phone call saying I have been scheduled. Everyone I have meet with so far, has been absolutely wonderful. Patricia Basile-Ohearn is a great person to deal with. My only frustration at this point is that I was told 2.5 weeks ago that everything has been done and now I have to wait to hear the person scheduling the surgery. I checked in last week and was told to hang in there she would be calling. I know I just need to be patient.rnOther than that so far I would highly recommend this program. They are very compassionate and believe in what they are doing.

Dr Buckley and his office staff and the staff at Heart and Wellness have always been friendly, caring, courtious and most of all they want you to succeed at with your weight loss journey. The nurses and nutritionists, and exersize physiologist are positive and encouraging. there is a mandatory 12 week aftercare program that monitors and teaches you good living habits. There is a wonderful support system from beginning, and for a lifetime. Dr buckley is calm and caring. He explains everything in great detail and gives you the time you need to feel comfortable with you decisions. I would recommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Dr. Buckley was my lasting impression of him. I found him to be a calm, quiet man - ready with any answer I needed as a patient, and some answers I didn't even think I needed.

He's a confident, caring doctor with a wonderful bedside manner for the patient and their family/support system.

Advises patients of all the risks... all possibilities and odds in weight loss, and maintaining your loss. Follows up annually after one year. The offer of short term and long-term help through the Heart & Welness Center is emphasized. Compliance with the program's guidelines is strongly recommended.

He's thorough, well trained and highly skilled as a surgeon. I recommend him highly to anyone looking for a bariatric surgeon in the area.

My first (and lasting) impression of Dr. Buckley is that he's a gentleman. He immediately put me at ease, he anticipated and answered all my questions, and he reassured my sister who accompanied me the day of my surgery. And I really appreciate his delightful sense of humor! Although he is sometimes slow in returning phone calls, overall I found his post-up care to be thorough and very caring. He displays a wonderful blend of surgical skill and bedside manner, which I found very comforting.
