  • About Me
While Dr. Jim Dasher saw the negative impact of excess weight on his surgical patients, for him it was the social ramifications faced by parents of young children that truly resonated. It seemed that everywhere he went with his young family— from church functions to school events like softball games or plays—he observed overweight parents facing striking limitations because of their size. Whether dealing with the embarrassment of small chairs in an assembly hall, or being unable to run the bases with their Little Leaguers, they were missing out on some of the most important moments in their children’s lives. Choosing Sleeve Gastric Bypass (also commonly referred to as Mini Gastric Bypass), gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and rouen-y gastric bypass procedures as surgical solutions had particular appeal to him because they are less invasive than other bariatric surgeries, allowing busy parents and professionals to return to their normal activities more quickly. “Obesity is an epidemic in the United States today. And for our patients, surgical intervention is the only way they are able to reach and maintain a healthy weight." “I love it when my patients come to clinic for their six-month visit, grinning from ear- to- ear because they look so young, their diabetes is cured, they have become engaged, are more successful in their jobs, or may even be pregnant! In addition to those wonderful changes, it’s not unusual for a patient to tell me that after only one month they have completely stopped taking their diabetes medications. The physical and social changes are thrilling to behold!”
