So far so good He got straight to the point told me what needs to be done sue was also there but had a new girl that did most of the work i cant remember her name, but she was nice too. The only reason he didnt get 5 stars was the WAIT!! OVER AN HOUR in the WAITING room then 15 or so min in the exam room i will keep updated throughout this process my next visit is in september!

Dr. Monk is WONDERFUL! He sits patiently and listens to all of my questions and concerns and answers them all without making me feel rushed. I love him! His nurse, Sue, is equally as patient and has a great bedside manner as well!

-I felt that Dr. Monk was experienced, but a little cocky. He cut my family and I off every time we tried to speak.
-After a while I seemed to warm up to him. He is a nice man, and he knows what he is doing....I trust him completely.
-His office staff is very kind. They made my mother and I feel welcome whenever we had an appointment.
-Just at first he seemed cocky, but I don't really have any complaints about him. He is a nice man.
-Dr. Monk will tell you anything you need to know concerning you and his doctor/patient relationship. He is up front and honest about anything you need to know about.

Dr. Monk will be my surgeon. My first impression was that he was very professional. He answered any questions that you have, and was very polite. rnThe office staff, in person were very friendly. It is very hard to get a hold of any of them over the phone though.rnSo far, I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Monk. One thing I do wish on his part is, he should let the patient know which surgery might be ideal for them. He says that he does not choose for you. Sometimes the patient is unsure. Doing so many surgeries, I'm sure he would know what might be easier for him and the patient.rnOther then that, he is a great Doctor and I have already told others about him.

My first impression of Dr. Monk was that he looked so kind. He was no-nonsense and got right to the point. Sue, his assistant did most of the leg work and was very thorough and explained everything I was going to need to do. Dr. Monk examined me and got right to the options. The office was crazy that day due to change overs in their computers and he didn't get enough time to go over everything, but I will be seeing him again in Feb. I do feel comfortable with him and have heard great things about him.

I am 7+ years post-op and having alot of problems with my health.rnrnI am anemic, have major dental problems, my hair has continued to fall out, I have become hypoglycemic to the point of sudden syncope, and now have irritable bowel syndrome!rnrnIf I could go back and re-do my decision on having the surgery... I would not have had it.rnrnI have nothing negative to say against my surgeon.rnrnThis surgery is still too new and I am showing alot of signs of major medical problems because of the gastric bypass.

I found Dr. Monk to be very matter of fact. He does not sugar coat things and tells you exactly how it is and how it is going to be. He took the time to answer all of my questions and explained everything in layman's terms. His nurse, Sue, is a wonderful person and always had time for me or any of the questions I called her with. She would always return my calls promptly. She is a wealth of knowledge. The rest of his staff are very friendly and understanding to your needs. He is a master at his craft. He knows what he is doing and does it well. I suffered no complications or ill effects from my surgery. He is a top notch surgeon and I would highly recommend him. His after care program is very thorough. He does not leave you guessing at anything. He is concerned about his patients and shows that concern when you are in his office. I am very pleased with my total experience.

My very good friend and I decided to have gastric bypass done as a team. She went before me by about a month. The day I met my surgeon I thought...oh my he's a little guy, lol. I can't say anything negative at all about him. I did all that I was told to do, went to the meetings, did the pre-op routine and just waited for that magical day. The ONLY thing that sort of bothered me was my last visit in his office. As I was getting up to leave, knowing that the next time I saw him it would be in the operating room, he said to me....*you'll be beautiful*. Now....I don't know about other's, and maybe it was just me....but as I said goodbye and walked down the hall I felt like a 100% hefer, this large, massive *unbeautiful* person and that I wouldn't BE beautiful until AFTER I had this. I know he meant well....men usually do...they just have a way of MESSING THINGS UP..lolrnrnBut all in all I can't complain. I drove myself to the hospital that day. I woke up that morning with the worlds WORST migraine. I guess it was from all that drinking fluids and taking that lovely drink to clean one's insides out the day before. I laid there in the little waiting room...my head pounding to the point that when the nurse came in to check me I told her I had to leave. I told her I was getting sick to my stomach from the pain in my head and I couldn't lie there anymore. She was quick to call the surgeon and ask if I could have a shot of ANYTHING for the pain awhile. Bless that man, he said yes, lol. So after she put whatever it was in my IV I was a happy camper and ready for whatever came my way. I spent the next 5 days in the hospital. Its still a blur to me. I can honestly say I really wasn't in pain...I was just in la la land and couldn't focus or really do ANYTHING . Getting up was a chore....gawwwd I never felt so out of it in my life. But I kept telling myself this was temporary.rnrnIf anyone reading this is interested in the surgery and having it done, all I can say is YES! Go for it.....it's not a miracle cure because its just one of many things you HAVE to do in order to succeed. I never went into this to be model thin and gorgeous. I needed to feel BETTER and live life for once instead of just sitting in the house and not wanting to go out in society because I was always feeling as if I was the *freak*. I've had enough sarcasm's and insults to last me several life times.....I was ready to try a different life now.rnrnDr. Monk is a wonderful man and a wonderful surgeon. He truly cares about his patients and I'd go back to him and do it all over again in a heart beat if I had to.

Dr Monk was very nice, but he lays it on the line and tells you how it is. He was very friendly and mentioned that people throughout Wellspan refer to him as \"chip-monk\". I've even heard the director of Pulmonary slip up on that one. His nurse, Sue is his right arm. She doesn't hesitate to return calls and is very informative.rnrnHe has answered all of my questions without hesitation, and cleared up some misconceptions that I had about loose skin, hair loss and vitamin deficency vs getting pregnant.rnrnDr Monk makes sure the patient knows that after surgery it's up to you to use your tool, and that you can fail if you don't co-operate. He drills it into your head that you can't snack or graze. That's where people are unsuccessful.rnrnOverall, I have 100% faith in Dr Monk and know that I'm in good hands. He's going to change my life!

When I first met Dr. Monk and Sue (his assistant that is nearly as vital as Dr. Monk!) haha. Anyways -- when I first met the both I had read lots about them already so I had a lot of preconceived ideas about them both. They are both very similar to what you commonly hear....Dr.Monk is very straightforward - he is not the type to hold your hand or pat your head as you go. Meeting with him is very to the point and in all reality - it works for him. You can see that he is a kind person if you look at him - but when it comes right down to it - he is a proffessional and that is how he acts. Sue - I loved her. She was also very professional - but I don't think that there was a question I could come up with that she couldn't answer. When I had to call to ask questions after the surgery - she was more than able to answer the questions. :) rnrnAt this point - I am unsure of their after care program as I am just going to my 1 month post op surgery tomorrow - so we'll see! :) rnrnIn general - I have no complaints to date about the care, people, ect
