Dr. Katz was wonderful. The whole program is so thorough and much time is spent with the patient both pre surgery and post surgery. I am 1 month post op from the gastric sleeve procedure and I feel great. I would definitely recommend Dr. Katz to anyone looking into having bariatric surgery.

My surgical experience with Dr Katz was amazing. He is one of the most caring people you will ever meet. I came through my procedure with no pain, no problems, and no surprises. His bariatric program is very comprehensive, prepares you for the surgery and stresses the importance of lifelong changes. Overall an excellent experience

Dr. Katz is an excellent surgeon. The women in his office other than the receptionist (who is a sweetheart) see the patients as an inconvenience. One of these women looks like Jabba the Hut. I think she is on the frequent flyer list at Dunkin Donuts and at Pizza Hut.

The office manager is a crabby load. I can't understand why they have a number of sloppy overweight people working in a Bariatric Practice. They don't believe in the operations?
Besides, they treat you as a number not a patient.

Crozier Chester Hospital is like the Motel 6 of Medical Centers. Go to Bryn Mawr.

I had Gastric sleeve 3 months ago and have lost 93 lbs. This practice's service (other than the operation ) is clearly second rate. My result , because I relied on my own research and discipline, was excellent. They were not as helpful as they should have been. The follow up was NG.

Katz is a nice guy and a first rate technician, but he could not answer some questions and his practice, from certification and clearance to after care is woefully bad.

Dr.Katz has a great bedside manner, following all of his instructions I do not have any problems. He was always on time and available for any questions that I had. I have the upmost respect for him, he is an excellent surgeon. I referred family members who are in the process of getting the gastro bypass. My family members and friends were very impressed with how well I done, with no complications at all.

Dr. Katz is a fabulous surgeon. From the first time I met him to my most recent visit I have nothing but good things to say. He is kind and listen to me and my concerns. He explained the entire process to me, provided me with his expectations and follow up.

His office staff is amazing. When you walk in the office you feel like part of the family. From the pre-cert nurse, the nurse case manager, the nutritionist, and the receptionist all great people!

My first impression of Dr. Katz was how at ease he made me feel knowing the major decision I had just made with regard to having Bariatric Surgery. To this day, it is a nice feeling to receive a hug from your surgeon each time he sees you. The office staff is your family away from home and are always willing to give great advice. At each visit, he not only goes over your progress, he instills what still needs to be done and focuses on your new life style. Every 3 months he makes sure that blood work is drawn prior to your visit so you can discuss your continued care. Prior to the surgery, he goes over the risks (as there is risk in any surgery). He is confident in his ability, which makes you feel more comfortable with your decision. He allows you to ask as many questions regarding Bariatric Surgery that you need to ask. Competence accompanied by courtesy is a rare combination in today’s environment. Dr. Katz is a "ten".

Thank You, to Dr. Katz, and his outstanding team. They are a remarkable crew; they really do care, and help you through it all.

Here is the short version of my story and how I came to see Dr. Katz. My middle sister had gone to Dr. Katz and had the surgery 2 years before me. She kept bugging me to go and see what it was all about. So finally after my trying for the millionth time of losing weight and getting one more prescription to take (now up to about 10 pills a day). Well I finally had enough of taking the medicine, getting winded while playing with my niece and nephew, and not being able to do anything. To me my limit was when I reached 320 pounds and something had to be done. Like I said I have tried a lot of diets and they would work for a little while then I would just stop, and of course you get frustrated and back up the scale would go my weight.

So I went to the seminar that Dr. Katz has for anyone who was thinking about having bariatric surgery. I found the seminar very interesting and I was actually excited about everything. I took the material home read over it, thought about it, and then I made my appointment to see Dr. Katz. The whole office experience was nice; everyone is very helpful and supportive. When you get your homework list do not panic. The list may seem long but it really does move along, especially if you want to get off medication and to be around for family/friends. You just need to be motivated, because it is ultimately up to you to do this and to do it for the rest of your life. It is a life change, and a way of life. I am happy that I had the surgery, and the wonderful support of Dr. Katz and his staff along with my family and friends have helped me strive and get my life back.

There are really not enough words to express the happiness that I have now in my life. I hope this helps you in making your decision to do bariatric surgery.

The only other advice I will give you when making this decision make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor and understand all that they expect form you in the process. This is not a fly by night decision to make. You really need to take your time and make sure that you are ready for a life change.

Best of luck in your decision.

I have never been comfortable with my body because of my weight, but the office staff & Dr Katz himself have made me feel comfortable about my weight and discussed every option available to me on losing it. I was not able to have the sleeve operation due to the damage acid had caused on my esophagus so I had the complete bypass. Dr Katz is so kind & answers all your questions with so much compassion. I have never met a doctor that cares about their patient's as much as he does and highly recommend him to anyone that is considering weight loss surgery. I had no complications but sometimes they occur. Dr Katz is available more than any other doctor I know and when he is not on call the other doctors he affiliates with are just as knowledgeable. I cannot sing Dr Katz's praises enough; he is a wonderful doctor and look forward to continuing treating in the office for my follow ups.

Dr. Katz and his staff are wonderful and my experience with them has been fantastic. From the initial information meeting to today 3 1/2 months post op have been very informative. Dr. Katz does a very thorough program and walks you thru every step to ensure you understand that this is a life changing event, not to be taken lightly. After surgery, Dr. Katz was fantastic answering every question even at 10:00 on a Friday night. I am very happy to have chosen his program after looking at other programs in the area.

Dr. Katz and his wonderful staff have been a blessing! I began my journey in January 2010 by attending an information session. I made my decision to undergo gastric bypass surgery and my life has changed. I had surgery in August 2010 and have never felt better! I highly recommend Dr. Katz and his staff for WLS!
