    Dr. Zaré is a board-certified fellowship-trained laparoscopic bariatric surgeon. Dr. Zaré joined Georgetown University, Washington, DC in 1997 for his surgical training, where he was awarded "outstanding resident in laparoscopy" in 2001. He then completed a two-year additional sub-specialty training in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was also a clinical instructor in surgery. Before his current position, Dr. Zare practiced in Boston as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University, and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Surgical Simulation at Boston VA Healthcare system. Dr. Zaré is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of a number of professional organizations including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
