    Dr. Neil R. Floch, is one of the country's most eminent Bariatric Surgeons. He graduated from Tufts University in 1988 with Magna cum Laude honors. He performed research at the Boston University School of Medicine and received his degree from them. He completed five years of surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, where he was the Chief Resident in Surgery. Dr. Floch performed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic with the pioneer of laparoscopic heartburn surgery, Dr. Ronald A. Hinder. He received advanced laparoscopic training in all aspects of abdominal surgery. He obtained the title of Associate attending St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida and he was an instructor at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Floch was trained and proctored in laparoscopic bariatric surgery by Dr. Raul Rosenthal of The Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. He has attended multiple laparoscopic training courses including the Mount Sinai Bariatric Course in N.Y.C. He has been trained and supervised by Dr. George Fielding, a pioneer in the LAP-BAND® procedure, and is a choice provider of the Allergan company for placement of the LAP-BAND® system. He was proctored by Dr. John Kelley in the Realize™ band. Dr. Neil Floch was proctored by Dr. Kaul of the New York Medical College School of Medicine in the Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy. Dr. Floch is committed to treating new patients as well as those in need of revisional bariatric surgery. Dr. Floch is the first fellowship trained advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon in Fairfield County. In addition to performing surgery he has used his skills to train many surgeons in the techniques of advanced laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Floch's academic accomplishments include twenty-one original journal publications and five book chapters. He is currently on the Board of the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology. As a coauthor and editor, he recently wrote several chapters on Weight Loss Surgery for the second edition of Netters Gastroeneterology which is published in over six languages. Currently, Dr. Neil Floch is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of The Society of American Gastroendoscopic Surgeons and The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Surgeons and licensed in New York, Connecticut and Florida. Dr. Floch is a Center of Excellence Certified Bariatric Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation. Dr. Floch is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Norwalk Hospital and an attending surgeon at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport CT, and Griffin Hospital in Derby CT. He personally designed and instituted the first two advanced minimally invasive operating rooms in Fairfield County. He is an expert lecturer on the, laparoscopic bariatric surgery, laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair and reoperative Nissen fundoplication. Dr. Floch is featured in the Consumer's Guide to Top Doctors as one of the 2009 Best Physicians as chosen by their peers. He is the surgeon of choice among many doctors and nurses who seek to have bariatric surgery for themselves. Dr. Floch has appeared on several television programs including Channel 12 Cablevison, Health Talk and Better Connecticut. Dr. Floch has been designated as a "TOP DOC" by Connecticut magazine for the last four years. Over 5,000 questionnaires were sent to doctors through out Connecticut. They were asked to recommend doctors that they would seek to provide care for them and their loved ones. Dr. Floch was selected to be part of this elite group.  Dr. Floch is also a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for 2015 and 2016. Dr. Floch is now performing the new FDA approved Orbera® Gastric Balloon non-surgical weight loss procedure.
