I did a lot of research about gastric bypass and surgeons before I decided to go this route. It took me 18 months to decide. The reviews of Dr. Enochs were very good and his reputation in this area is impeccable. I thought he was the surgeon I wanted, but when I met him at my first appointment, I was certain. He was very informative about the procedure and the associated risks and answered most of my questions before I could ask them. He was very thorough in the testing required before the procedure, but his office provided no feedback or follow-up when they hadn't received results from some of my tests or evaluations so be prepared to do your own follow-up. When it was time to schedule my surgery, Dr. Enochs took time to answer all of my husband's questions about the risks even though he had already done that for me. I had complications after surgery and Dr. Enochs and his PA, Brett, were very compassionate and shared all information about my condition with my family. They never made my family feel they were in a hurry to leave my room. They answered every question in detail.
Before surgery, I had a difficult time getting through to talk to people in the office. Messages would sometimes take 24 hours to be returned. However, after surgery, I never had to leave a message except after office hours. Those calls were returned by a PA within 15 minutes.
If I had to do this again, I wouldn't think of going to anyone but Dr. Enochs and I would definitely recommend him to my family, friends and others.
I am exploring options for WLS and am seriously considering Dr. Enochs. There is certainly no question about his skill and competence but I need to feel comfortable with the staff as well, since they are the ones I will call with questions/concerns. Jaime is my patient care coordinator and has bent over backwards to be helpful and accommodating. Yesterday, I went to the wrong office for my appointment and to make it easier on me, she stopped what she was doing and came to me rather than having me go to her. She also didn’t make sure that I knew "I was the one who messed up"….in fact, I didn’t even realize it until I got home and read her email that gave me specific directions where to go, not just the address of the building but down to which elevator to take! She has made sure that I know all of my options, including costs, so there will be no surprises while reminding me the steps to take to speed up the process, I also have felt no pressure to make a decision. Although I may end up going closer to home for the surgery (200 miles round-trip is tough after a long day at work), I would not hesitate to use this practice for any type of surgery if I lived closer to the Raleigh area!
Dr Enochs is top notch. Even during the 1st visit he made me feel like I was his only patient. He came in the exam room took the chair and sat in front of the door where nobody could come in and sat down and explained everything. Every visit I had with him made me feel I had made the right choice as far as who was going to do my surgery. Dr. Enochs is a great doctor who seems to actully cares about each patient. I would also like to think of him as great friend of mine who help changed my life. The only reason he did not get 10 stars from me is because there were only five to choose from. Also his office staff was very helpful and speedy about call backs when I had questions.
I am currently in the preliminary stages before having the RNY. I have to say that my first impressions of both Dr. Enochs and his office staff are very favorable! My caseworker, Megan, is very kind, and all the people I've dealt with in the office have been polite, friendly, and respectful. Dr. Enochs was very friendly from the beginning, and I know that I've chosen the right doctor for this life-changing surgery! If my opinions change through further interactions, I'll definitely update my review, but as things stand now, Dr. Paul Enochs and his office staff are true professionals, and I can't wait to have my surgery!

First impression of Dr. Enochs and his staff was incredible. Each one of them explained their role in detail and told me how they would assist as we go through the process. Dr. Enochs spent plenty of time with me reviewing my options. I feel confident in Dr. Enochs.
Update post op: Dr. Enochs and his staff are the best.

Dr. Enochs, is a amazing physian. the ONLY complaint i would have would be their answering service. they do not act in a quick manner.
Dr. Enochs, is very direct, compassionate, and truly makes you feel as if you count! There were never any questions I had he did not answer and he treats you as a person not a paitnet.
his office staff (excluding the answeirng service) are amazing. THey are all friendly and very quick on getting things taken care of.
I do not reqret using Dr. Enouchs and would referr anyone to see him.
Dr. Enochs was very nice. I felt that he gave me all the information I needed, I didn't have any questions to as. I felt welcomed by his staff, and they were helpful. I love the little welcome gift bag they gave, very nice idea.
I chose Dr. Enochs to be my surgeon because he was very highly recommended by my other doctors. Even the professionals I met at the hospital spoke very highly of him. Besides being a great surgeon, he is a very nice person. I also came to know that Dr. Enochs's rate of complications is way below the national average. His office staff, however are another story. My calls were never returned. I got a call from my insurance company advising me that my surgery had been approved, where the office staff had no idea till a week later! The last time I was at the doctors office, I was in the waiting room 2 hours before i was seen. I wouldn't go back if it wasn't for Dr. Enochs. He never makes you feel rushed. He is very patient and answers all your questions. He has a very gentle bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone looking to have WLS.
Dr. Enochs is an excellent Dr. He is patient and he listens and he is friendly, plus he is a beautiful looking man :).
His office staff on the other hand is terrible. It is like pulling teeth to get responses from these people. I had to call and call and call and make surprise in person visits to the office to follow-up on what information they still needed before they submitted to insurance. They never return phone calls no many how many times you leave a message. They claimed they were going to get my medical records from all my PCPs but they didn't, and worse they didn't notify me that they were still waiting for that. Then I had to be extremely assertive to get them to submit to insurance and schedule my clinical results visit in a timely fashion. And they have this that they can't do the clinical results visit until after they get approval from the insurance company which seems fine in theory but then when I went to the clinical results visit, I found out I needed to have my gall bladder out first, which I wish they would have told me way ahead of time when they first got the results because as it turned out last year I could have had my lap band surgery completely free because I had met all of my out of pocket maximums last year. If they had told me earlier I could have had my gall bladder out while I was waiting to hear back from the insurance company about the surgery and then gotten my lap band done in December. That really pissed me off.
I like Dr. Enochs but his staff is just not good. Also, word to the wise if you are scheduled for an appt. make sure you anticipate staying there for 3 hours it takes a long long time to see Dr. Enochs because he is patient with every patient (not complaining, I'm just giving some friendly advice).
Heard nothing but good and kind things about this surgeon. I had surgery on January 15, 2010 with Dr.Enoch. Did not get to see him until after surgery was over. But he did a great job. I had a hernia removed alone with SILS. Everything went well.rnrnDr.Enochs staff is not people persons. In other words they can be rude, unorganized.I can never get to speak to direct staff when I call, have to hold for 10 min or longer and listen to this loud music in my ear. And then they might get back to you, and they might not. This is an answering service for the office. It is terrible. They may return your call and may not .Very unprofessional, talking in a rush. not taking time for the patient. Not friendly at all.
