  • About Me
Dr. Raymond Taddeucci grew up in St. Louis, MO and made the move to Nebraska in 1991 to attend Creighton University. He majored in chemistry and went on to attend Creighton University School of Medicine. Seeing that Nebraska was indeed “The Good Life”, he stayed at Creighton and completed his general surgery residency in 2005. Dr.Taddeucci completed a one year fellowship in bariatric surgery at University of Tennessee-Memphis in 2006.  He joined Surgical Associates, PC in August 2006. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is proficient in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and the Lap-Band procedure.  He is also skilled in Lap-Band removal with or without conversion to a sleeve gastrectomy.  "I have become a strong proponent of the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.  Prior to its acceptance as a stand-alone procedure, we basically had two options: the gastric bypass and the Lap-Band.  The gastric bypass was effective but could produce long-term complications.  The Lap-Band was much safer, but generally not nearly as effective.  The laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a very simple concept, and seems to get rid of the unfavorable aspects of the bypass and band, while keeping their favorable aspects.  Although the gastric bypass has a long track record, I believe that permanently changing the anatomy in this way is unwise and can result in long term problems.  Although these problems are uncommon, it can be a life-long issue that a patient may have to deal with.  I forsee a future when the gastric bypass becomes obsolete, and the sleeve gastrectomy and Lap-Band (or something new) are the two options available."     Surgical Associates,PC -Bariatric Division is the only group in Lincoln, NE accredited by the Surgical Review Corporation as ASMBS Center of Excellence approved surgeons. Surgeries are performed at St.Elizabeth Regional Medical Center and The Nebraska Surgery Center, both of which are ASMBS Centers of Excellence accredited hospitals. SERMC is also a Blue Cross Center of Distinction. Dr.Taddeucci is approved by BLIS, which is essentially a temporary insurance program for patients paying out of pocket for their procedure. Dr.Taddeucci does not employ a mid-level provider, meaning that all patients are always seen exclusively by him.  He accepts patients who have had a bariatric procedure somewhere else, and are looking to establish care with a bariatric surgeon for routine follow-up.
