The doc was super professional and amazingly kind. He stopped by and saw me in preop to make sure I was okay and came to my room the morning after to check on me and see if I had any questions. He has been nothing but helpful and amazing since I first started seeing him. He is very gentle as well and cares 100% about all his patients and makes time for them. Definitely the best surgeon I could have ever asked for.

I really liked Dr. Nye. He was friendly and very knowledgable. He was very confident and understanding. He was willing to answer all my questions and more. He made me and my family feel as if we were in very good hands! I would reccomend him to anyone! His staff was so nice and very friendly as well. They never make you feel different or a burden when you need them. They are fast with getting you approved and what you need done! He does have a bariatric program fee of $250 but I thought it was well worth it!

5 yrs almost 6 yrs later I have been having complications and after a few tests my pcp found that it was related to my original rny done 6/21/04 with my bypassed stomach and intestine. I had a 'revision' scheduled and approved after seeing Northern Colorado Surgical Associates in Fort Collins, CO. They are great and are helping me recover and get back on track! I am looking forward to feeling better and losing the gained weight.

I think Dr. Quaid is a wonderful, reassuring man. He takes the time to explain, even after you have spoken with the nurses and feel like you know everything. He sees the person, not the weight.

My first imression of Dr. Quaid was that he was quiet and tall! My impression over the four times I've seen him has not changed except that I liked him better each time I saw him. He has a quiet confidence that appeals to me: perhaps someone else would prefer a doctor with a more jocular manner but he was perfect for me. His office is extremely professional and knows their patients. At my first appointment I was given much information verbally about the surgery itself and what life would be like after the lapband as well as a very detailed notebook with information, websites, addresses to buy supplies, recipes, exercises, eating schedules, etc. The aftercare program is very structured and he sends updates to my primary care physician. Dr. Quaid is a general surgeon and I would want him to do any future surgeries I needed. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have just had my lapband placement a few days ago so I will update this review after a year.

It's funny how impressions change. When I first went looking for a surgeon the NC Surgical office was at the bottom of my list. I was convinced that to have a good surgeon, I needed on who ONLY did bariatrics. BOY WAS I WRONG! I consulted with several other doctors and had yet to find one I was comfortable with. Everyone else, although a specialy service, just didn't feel right for one reason or another. My insurance company finally sent me to Dr. Quaid, as they were part of \"The centers of Excellence\" when the others were not.rnrn Dr. Quiads office was totally different. From my very first phone call they had a pleasant and calming effect on me. I felt it was my total health they were concerned with not just my weight loss. My friends had warned me that their surgeons had pressured them and other clients into gastric bypass when they realy wanted to do the LaP Band sysytem. I was worried their office would try and do the same. NOTHING like that ever came up. Once I told them I wanted the lap band, that was the direction we went. Of course they touched on the subject and the pros and cons of both types of surgeries but I NEVER felt pressure to go one way or the other. It was totaly my decision and their office was behind me 100%rnrn I'll never forget the first time I met Dr. Quiad. I had seen his picture of course, but never expected the willowy giant that walked into the room. My husband is 6'2\" and Dr. Quaid towers over him. But this giant is ever so gentle. He has a calming and soothing voice that reassures you that you are making the right choice. His smile is totally sincere and brightens the room. The combination of his bedside manner and his skilled surgical technique, makes him by far the top choice for surgeons if you ask me.rnrn NC Surgical does require that you go through a series of preoperative trainings before your surgery. So if your looking for a quick surgical date this is not the place for you. At your consultation appointment you have the option of booking a tenative surgical date. This date will be no less than 6 weeks out. During that six weeks you are required to see a phsychiatrist for a consultation (I think this is great as it prepares you for the emotional roller coaster you are about to ride on) as well as completing nutritional education with a registered dietitician. Dr. Quaids office walks you through each of these steps and makes sure everything is on track for you.rnrnThe people that work with their office also show genuine concern. My counselor contacted me several times during my six week wait and again the day after my surgery just to make sure I was doing okay, and if I had any anxiety or other concerns she could help me with. (Thanks Dr. B for everything!) The hospital surgical staff called me the day after I left the hospital to make sure I was adjusting to being at home okay and if there was anything more they could do to help me recover. rnrn All in all, my experiance with Dr. Quiad and his team has been wonderful. I'm looking forward to my first post op visit when I can thank their staff for the wonderful change they are helping to make in my life. rnrnrnrn

Surgical Competence

First impression: soft-spoken and friendly. Changing impression: soft-spokeness underlies serious energy, and willingness to take in a lot of details. Office staff: topnotch, everyone was pulling for me from the first phone call. I wish I thought to ask more about his training, and his back-up mentoring, because he is relatively new at this. Aftercare is like a religious vision for this clinic, with common messages and advice coming at you from all sides ( I didn't wnat to hear the dietician say something different than the nurse, for example- and that kind of thing never happened). I do think it would have been better to have a clinic with an endocronologist on board, since my in-stay aftercare, and my present post-op care are throughouly wrapped up in issues regarding my diabetic management, and I'm not sure what to do (my blood sugars are rising and staying high, without my Lantus, and I left without any short-acting insulin). Being post-op is forcing my hormones out of whack, and I expressed concern pre-op, and in the hosp. Part of the pre-op plan should have involved an endocronologist. Overall, though, I'd rate him personally, as excellent. And surgical competence is important...but if bedside manner is lacking to the point where I can have a direct/forward conversation, I'd find someone I could talk to. You certainly can talk easily with Dr. Quaid, though.

He was very professional, and not arrogant. I was treated with respect and was confident that he was very ready to accomplish my surgry with no complications. The staff was incredible. I am getting ready to have my pre op appointment in two days. The risks of surgery were covered extensively and the were very organized.

I have not had a negative experience as of yet. Hopefully don't have one.
