About Me

Dr. Bhoyrul is an Attending Surgeon at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. He founded the La Jolla Weight Management Medical Group. As of 2011, we are now called Olde Del Mar Surgical. He has developed a comprehensive practice tailored to the needs of the patient suffering from obesity. With an in house dietitian, psychologist, insurance specialist, and even a clinical research nurse, his patients receive every aspect of their care from experts who dedicate the majority of their time and efforts to achieving the best possible long term outcomes fro his patients.

He has developed a strong focus in minimally invasive surgery, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations. He is also co-editor of one of the original textbooks in laparoscopic surgery, “Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery”. He also continues to publish his original work in journals such as the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, and World Journal of Surgery. He is the recipient of many awards, including “Best Doctors in America” 2006-2007, San Diego "Top Doctors", and is also a proctor and teacher to his colleagues nationally and internationally in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. Before starting his own practice, he was head of general surgery at Scripps Clinic.
