The New Hampshire Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Center, a partnership between Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center in Derry, is a recognized center of excellence that features three experienced, Board-certified surgeons who are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons and affiliates of the American Bariatric Society. The team also consists of dieticians, physical therapists, behavioral health experts and representatives from other medical specialties.

The program is recognized as a Blue Distinction Center^sm for bariatric surgery by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire for providing care that leads to quality outcomes for people undergoing weight loss surgery.

The program is also accredited as a Level 2b facility by the Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN) Accreditation Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This designation means that the program has met the essential criteria that ensure it is fully capable of supporting a bariatric surgery care program and that its institutional performance meets the requirements outlined by the ACS BSCN Accreditation Program.

The program offers both gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) and Lap-Band procedures, using advanced laparoscopic techniques that result in faster recovery and reduced post-surgical discomfort. The program offers frequent public education sessions that are free to attend. Attendance at a session is required prior to application of the program.
