 Phat_girl_38’S BEFORE & AFTER

Obesity Help Member: Phat_girl_38
Weight Loss Total: 107 lbs
Surgery Type:  Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (10/13/14)
Bariatric Surgeon: Andrew Hargroder, MD

“I’ve struggled with weight challenges since high school. I was on a weight loss/gain roller coaster for the better part of the last 20 years, flexing my overall weight as much as +/- 80 pounds! As with so many others, the even mention of bariatric surgery to me was crazy. After all, I thought that was for really overweight people or for those people who cannot lose weight on their own – or at least that’s what I thought. It was a tough realization to come to when I realized I was one of those really overweight people and although I could lose weight on my own, I couldn’t keep it off. I decided I needed more help than just a diet or even an overall lifestyle change could give. I began researching bariatric surgery and within a few short months I was scheduled for my surgery.

I truly had no idea how much my life was about to change for the better. One of the biggest things about my decision I can say is that I wish I would have made this decision many years before. If only there wasn’t such negative stigma on having bariatric surgery. Now I am down 100+ pounds from my highest weight and I feel better than I have in many years! I’m able to be more active and do more things than before. I love my sleeve!”
