Just received money back from Alberta Health Care - Had surgery in Mexico

Hi all Albertan Sleevers.  I submitted my surgery expenses to Alberta Health Care and today in the mail got a cheque for over $1700.00.

Make sure you do this.  Now I will submit to my company insurance plan and hopefully get another $3000 back.  Then I can submit the rest on my taxes for last year.

I had my sleeve surgery on October 6th, 2014 and submitted the forms right away after.  It took 3 1/2 months to get my cheque.

Did you have to get a letter from your Dr.?

What kind of paper work do you get from the hospital in Mexico?

I am planning on going to Mexico in the fall to get the sleeve done with Dr. Kelly.

It would be great to get some money back even if it takes a couple of months.

This is most interesting to me. Did an Alberta doctor approve you for surgery and put you on a wait list? Is that why you went to Mexico instead?

Wishing you a healthy day,

I did the same, as did my husband, my daughter and a couple of friends. Funny thing - we all went to Dr Aceves, we all got pretty much exactly the same, detailed receipt, and we all got different amounts back.

Still, it was WELL worth the effort of tracking down the online forms, filling them in and faxing them to AH.

Which forms from AH did you download?

I am 10 days post-op from my Mexico surgery (Sleeve).

Thx

Gerold.
