FB support page-new here

Hi Im new here

I have been attending the Calgary Bariatric Clinic since the fall.  I have an appt with my nurse case manager the end of this month.  I will be set up with an appt with a surgeon, not sure how they decide which one etc.  If anyone knows please shed some light.  Also I have read there is a FB support page how do I find this I have looked but cant find.

Hello and welcome!

There are a few FB groups, start by searching this one, even though you're in Calgary: Edmonton Bariatric Support Group, the Bariatric Sisterhood is the other one, but it's a secret group and you have to be friends with someone who is in it to get approved.  I don't think you need a friend in the Edmonton group to get approved, but ask about the sisterhood, when you get into that one. I don't know if Calgary has one.

I am also attending the Calgary Bariatric Clinic since September, I have the surgery info class in early February and hopefully I'll be booked with a surgeon afterwards.

Watching this thread to also get the FB support page information.

I'm betting this site won't let me provide a link. Have you tried to search for the Edmonton Bariatric page on Facebook? You will need to send a request and watch your "other" messages folder to reply. 

Hi there,

i am having surgery in Edmonton and have doing my appointments in Grande Prairie. In my appointments they told me I would be taken by Dr.karmali. Didn't even have the option at my surgery consult. But I am happy he will be my surgeon as I did a little research on him. 

I've heard great things about Dr. Karmali.  Did either of you find the FB groups?

I'm now a member of the Edmonton group, but still not got on to the Sisterhood as yet.

as an update I had my appt with my nurse caseworker today, and am scheduled for surgery intake Mar 3.  I had a choice of intake dates with 3 different Doctors so I am scheduled with Dr Debru.  Waiting time varies of course but after surgeons approval then pre surgery class and wait time is 4-6 ish but could be longer.  Im ok with this.  Also I was positive I had gained over Christmas but nope lost 5 lbs yay
