I just booked my hotel in Victoria for the big day.  So I've booked from the 4th to the 11th, to allow for pre-op visits two days before and two days after since the surgeon wants to make sure I'm in Victoria for 2 nights after I'm released in case there is an issue.

Staying in Victoria can be pricey for long periods of time, especially if your surgery is in the Summer.  If you aren't aware already the BC government Procurement services has a list of hotels in areas that if you have to travel for medical reasons they have medical rates at some Hotels, the webpage is below.

This is seperate from the Travel Assistance Program which is also available to assist in travel costs, for Ferries etc.  Forms are required in advance from your specialist, in my case I don't believe I qualify as technically there are surgeons in Richmond.

Hi!  Jill

My husband and I traveled to Victoria on the TAP program yesterday.  It took some doing because the system did not auto generate a confirmation number for the paperwork.  This meant that I had to go through the call center listed on the back of the pink TAP form.  Both the front line staff and the supervisor were obnoxiously rude, but do not let them intimidate you!  Good Luck!   Joyce
