I am so upset - anyone else out there

So after years and years of struggling with yo yo weight loss I finally decided it was time to do the WLS - But I am told from my insurance company that because my insurance is written in DC that this is not a covered benefit.  Anyone out there run into this ?? I am so devastated  - i just don't understand it they say it isn't even offered in the DC area???
