Have you tried Devrom or Body Mint? Work or not?
I notice that my poops and gas smell alot worse than pre-DS. Thesmell makes me feel
I take probiotics twice daily (good ones). Not doing the trick. I'm not eating flour or sugar. So I'm thinking about trying one of the body deodorizers.
Has anyone tried Devrom? Body Mint? Some other body deodorizer? How did it work for you?
Thanks!!!

Devrom didn't work for me. But, my feeling about is like the way I feel about breath mints. Why not fix the problem rather than trying to mask it?
Have you looked into taking Flagyl periodically to take care of the bacterial overgrowth that is likely causing your smell?
LeaAnn has tons of info about it on her profile. I took a three day dose and now only need the occasional dose every week or two ( with my daily probiotics) to keep that intestinal flora in balance.

Devrom works GREAT....for about 3-4 weeks. It loses it's effectiveness, unfortunately. I plan to use it for 3 days before traveling and will use it through the duration of a vacation, but that's about it for me. It almost completely eliminated odor for me in the first two weeks, I thought it was a miracle! Too bad it didn't last, my **** actually almost smelled like roses...really!

the main ingredient in Devrom is the same main ingredient in PeptoBismol. You can get Pepto at your closest Walgreens, it turns your poop black and takes away the stink. I took it while away on vacation for a few weeks but quit when I got home
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Although the main ingredients in Deverom and Pepto Bismol are not the same, Devrom contains Bismuth Subgallate and Pepto Bismol contains Bismuth Subsalicylate I found Pepto Bismol helpful with the smell and the gas. Pepto Bismol has an antibiodic effect. It is sometimes used to treat H. Pylori bacteria infections. This why it may work better. I took the max dosage daily for 2 weeks and it helped alot.
Sorry i'm late coming into this, but I just saw the topic and happened to deal with this just recently!
I checked with both my pharmacist and doc and they both told me some interesting things. First, that I could take the Peptto Bismol but do not recommend it because of it's active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate (salicylic acid) will cause me bad GI irritation AND it's only approved for short term use(less than 2 weeks).
Second, they said Devrom is specifically indicated to treat gas odor and has also been used to treat the Heicobacter Pylori bacterium. Personally, the h pylori isn't a real issue for me, but I guess it's an interesting point. Also, I found out that pepto is more expensive (five cents more per tablet...every bit addds up) and it's made in mexico!
Had to share and have a great summer!!!

Devrom only helps with gas odors and does not treat H pylori. Check out this information at the following sight on Pepto Bismol & h pylori

It states that if you have stomach ulcers that an antibiotic, along with Pepto Bismol helps to treat them. Ulcers are caused by the H pylori bacteria. As for Devrom, I tried it and it didn't do anything for the foul smelling gas. I have a chronic case of C-Diff infection which seems to cause my smelly gas. I believe that salicylic acid is what asprin contains which can cause GI irritation.

Hey Nikki!
I would take it for 4 days or so before the trip to be getting full benefit of it and not have the benefits run out while you're there. You can go 5 to be safe too. I just know that after the 3rd week I just wasn't getting the same results from them. Too bad, they worked great for those three weeks!

You might want to try Omnigest, it's a digestive enzyme you take with meals. Since you are going away at christmas time you have months to experiment. But I found that by reducing my fat intake (fat = malabsorbtion= more food going into the large intestines = more food for bacteria), and taking the maximum dose of omnigest with each meal, reduced the smell of my poo and gas to almost nothing. Although now 2 1/2 years post op, I find that just lowering my fat intake and eliminating all dairy and sugar substitue products does the same thing.
FYI you can also leave the room and use the public bathroom in the lobby for your morning poo.
