carb question
Donna - it's kind of an individual thing.....I know some people who can only lose weight if they stay below 20 carbs, and others who lose staying under 100 carbs. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd maybe set it at an arbitrary 50 carbs and go from there.
Net carbs are the total carbs minus fiber and/or sugar alcohols.
For example, a piece of light bread might have 17 grams of carbs with 10 grams of fiber. If you subtract the 10 from the 17, you have 7 net carbs.
Also, it's important that you stay away from sweetened beverages.....they can be a source of hidden carbs. This includes juice. If I put on a few pounds, I cut out fruit, simple carbs such as sugar, flour, potatoes, etc. I've been pretty lucky in that I maintain rather effortlessly, but I did gain five pounds over the holidays. I lost it by cutting back on that kind of stuff.

Yup - we moved 4.5 blocks, LOL.
We had been restoring my husband's house, and sold mine. Just five blocks from a beautiful Lake Michigan beach. When life has settled down for you - you've got somewhere nice to visit, don't forget!
Keep me posted on your son's status, please.
